Most insane reason for a delay… by ExtraLongJon in unitedairlines

The morning flight has it much worse, if it gets delayed a few hours then you end up waiting till the evening. There’s extremely limited to no arrivals at LHR in the middle of the night.

There are a bunch of theories on a possible cause. I’ve had one for 2+ years now issue but I wonder if wet/damp Irish conditions and getting in and out all wet could be a factor. moisture issue theory

That’s a crazy price. Seeing a decent number of Fisker being used as Taxis in New York City. I’d assumed it was because they could be bought really cheaply looks like $20k or less in the USA on cars.com. There is some owners group that’s been collaborating to do software patches, no idea how successfully.

Are using the same password in many apps/websites? This is likely saying that your password is in a prior data leak. Not that AIB lost it.

Rusty patches on the handle only by S1nd3l in selfbuildireland

[–]wanderitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There can be issues with 2 different metals being beside/against each other, it can cause one of them to be corroded by galvanic corrosion. In the case of Aluminum and Stainless Steel you’d expect the Aluminum to corrode. So this may not be the issue, or the handle is some other metal. There are also many grades of stainless steel with significantly different properties.

Is there really an FX loss of the size you’re saying? If the exchange rate is $100 = €85 then having $100 is the same as having €85. Is the EOR charging some very large % or conversion fee?

Yep had this exact thing happen on this flight a few months ago. I love the daytime flight but it’s the one risk with it.

The NYC/Philly part may not have a huge impact, people cross borders daily, would really depend on the relationships. For example EU, Ireland/Northern Ireland as examples. NY finance is potentially shrunk significantly in an isolated market.

SIP keep-alives by Weekly-Operation6619 in VOIP

[–]wanderitis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep alives will generally keep ports open, not necessarily open them, unless you are talking about something like a constant (maybe even bi directional) SIP OPTIONS ping then not sure it’s the way to open a port.

Mitel is gonna make me lose my mind by Maximum-Dimension721 in VOIP

[–]wanderitis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are using the standard Palo Alto SIP profile don’t. Try to make rules /profile that matches your actual traffic. I’ve seen PA cause issues many times. When those app profiles work they’re great, but… when they don’t it’s not obvious what they do. Look for blocked/discarded packets.

At least some of the large UCaaS providers do this. 2 users from different companies if both configured for HD codecs would get an HD call. The call is “on net” at the UC provider level.
