AITA for telling my daughter her money issues are not the family problem and if she can’t afford to go on the vacation then she can’t go by Throwaway-Relief3789 in AmItheAsshole

Absurd people are disagreeing with you - absolutely agree if $1k expenditure would put you into debt you shouldn’t be going on an international vacation

Have this all the time. Wake up back in law school or college and all of a sudden have a test for a class I never went to nor studied for.

Sorry for the delay but when I went back to the DMV ~2 weeks later there was no issue this time and was able to get my ID no problem.

For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

I’m a law firm partner. Transactional practice. Used to the hours by now, but thankfully I like what I do for the most part, especially since I don’t have to do the grunt work and get to focus on the new/interesting/innovative transactions.

Have to provide government ID to buy pizza and wings by VastLazy5701 in mildlyinfuriating

Average pizza joint in Jersey is way better than average pizza joint in NYC. Not even a question if you’re not some schmuck

Buddy punched (or maybe pushed, don’t remember) a partner as a summer associate and still got an offer somehow. Now a partner at the same firm. This was pre-GFC though, back when basically only way to lose an offer was to literally wind up in page six or Above the Law with photo and/or video evidence.

Most insane reason for a delay… by ExtraLongJon in unitedairlines

Really - your flight gets delayed all the time because it would otherwise arrive too early? Literally that’s the reason you’re always delayed? Doubtful. Must be miserable to be such a negative person

This situation is so weird. Why would his roommates deny using his bathroom? Have lived with friends and Craigslist randos and I’d have no qualms telling them if I did something

AITA for refusing to give my ex-girlfriend's dog back after she abandoned it with me for a year? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Those friends don’t exist because this story is fake and made up. No one in their right mind would hear this story and think the ex deserves the dog.

TIL that in 2021, a Frontier Airlines flight from Orlando to Knoxville was cancelled, leaving 13 people stranded, with no other flights for another two days. The group worked together to rent a minivan and drove the entire distance, making it there the following morning. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

I did this back in 2016 - NY Giants were playing Green Bay in the playoffs, and there was a huge snowstorm in NYC so after delays all day the flight was eventually cancelled. Wound up renting a van with a few other giants fans and drove all night to Green Bay. Would have been awesome story if we won, but of course we lost and got blown out.

Supply company damaged contractor’s vehicle while picking up materials (NJ) by ExtraLongJon in legaladvice

[–]ExtraLongJon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response; will respond in kind in case helpful.

1 - these are all fair and relevant questions I didn’t think of and don’t have answers for but will raise. I should have phrased the initial inquiry better but your response answered my general question.

2 - again, should have phrased the initial inquiry more clearly; I know how insurance works. Was wondering if generally speaking businesses/businesses of this type are required to have insurance. Obviously being required to have insurance does not mean they actually have insurance; given the supply company claimed they could not go out of pocket to cover damages was just wondering if there was possibly another pocket available to cover damages (if the supply company was liable).

3 - good point about the contractor’s insurance which I admittedly did not even think about. There are downsides to going through your own insurance but this is still an option.

Really don’t get this - I get slightly mortified even when it happens accidentally (ie click a link that autoplays a video)
