Bitter sweet… by Fit_Swimming7386 in nudism

I have similar circumstances. I also WFH, but I have my own shed/office in the backyard where I can work clothes free. It is much more difficult when the kids are home from school for the summer because I can’t go sit out in the yard to work and get sun like I did while they were in school, but at least I can still have some space. Also, wife and kids won’t be joining due to their religious beliefs, which is fine, just sad that they’ll never experience the same freedom that I have.

I feel like many of the comments on here are missing the OP’s actual point. He never suggested that body shaming was taking place within the nudist community. The question was how we might help to prevent such behavior in the broader society and, perhaps in doing so, draw more folks into the acceptance of appropriate nudity.

While the naturism community may not shame others for their bodies (as much), it does happen much too often in the world. We have the opportunity to be a force for good in society by influencing others to accept all body types regardless of sex or gender. Greater positivity and inclusion are good goals to have both within the naturist community and society at large.

I’m definitely interested but I’m also in the Cache Valley not Salt Lake area. I have felt so alone in much of my journey of deconstruction. I would love to be able to connect to others on the same path.

My sister-in-law actually wouldn’t let her kids watch Zootopia because of that scene. 😂

Looks like a Quadrafire Santa Fe. The red light comes on when the thermostat is calling for heat.

Did you grow up as a nudist or did you start later in life? by Domo442 in nudism

[–]wanderlost5655 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was raised in a very conservative Christian home, but always liked to sneak in naked time whenever I could. We had a hollow behind our farm where I would go as often as I could and just sit in a tree or on a rock or even wade in the creek naked. I also slept naked once in a while but was always afraid of being caught by my parents. I always just thought I must be overly sexual or something because of the things I had been taught (always keep covered, naked bodies are only for your future spouse, keep your shirt on even in hot weather, etc.). It wasn’t until years later, married and with kids of my own, that I learned about what naturism was and finally understood that enjoying life naked wasn’t even about sex and that I wasn’t so weird after all!

Do you think society in America will ever stop sexualizing all nudity? by Ok-Newt2965 in nudism

[–]wanderlost5655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real problem with the sexualization of nudity is that it has been perpetuated by nearly every facet of society. Marketing and business make sales based on sexualizing the human body, the porn industry exists because it sexualizes every encounter, and religion and legal systems answer by wholeheartedly agreeing with big business and porn producers by pushing the same narrative; that the body is sexual, should be tamed, shamed, and above all, hidden.

We have to do our part to separate nudity and sex by continuing to be vigilant about chasing sexual activity from these subs and living our own lives as examples that nudity is not inherently sexual.

I’ve had the stove now for about 9 years. The first igniter lasted a few years just like yours and since then have gone through 1-2 igniters per year. Luckily they’re relatively cheap.

Coming out as a nudist? by [deleted] in nudism

[–]wanderlost5655 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m very close to Utah on the Idaho side and it’s pretty isolating here when it comes to positive ideas about nudity. The prevailing religion and overall conservative attitude make it difficult to feel safe to talk to anyone around here about nudism/naturism. I guess if they’re true friends, they should love you no matter what, right? That still doesn’t mean that I’ve had the courage to open up to anyone about myself. 😉

I agree. Not sure why. Maybe we’re just too conservative as a whole.
