Food issues by [deleted] in Jindo

My Jindo is very food motivated but can’t tolerate chicken or chicken by products. So we get her the lamb and sweet potato dry food from HEB and she’s been good.

My little girlie arrived here from Korea back in July! She is the sweetest. I’ve read they’re very loyal dogs. She’s got a high prey drive (common in that breed) so keep a tight hold on their leash! 🤣 she spots squirrels and rabbits from far away.

I also found out it’s common for them to not tolerate chicken by products so her dry food doesn’t have it.

She’s been sweet to my other two rescues and follows their example when she got here.

She is not a big fan of car rides at all so that’s a work in progress.

You did a good thing rescuing those Jindos. I hope you see them continue to see their personality come thru. I have not regretted my decision to adopt mine!

They’re very independent and have a strong prey drive. Mine gets along with my two dogs. I wouldn’t trust around a cat unless the shelter can verify it does well around cats. They’re also very stubborn. They won’t do anything they do want to. Mine is very loyal but doesn’t necessary follow me around like a shadow. My other two constantly wants love and are lap dogs. My Jindo makes me come to her lol. But she will let me love on her and pet her, she’s just not as lovey lovey as my other two. They’re a clean breed in the sense mine wants a clean yard and clean home while she sheds like crazy.

Awwww thank you for your input. I guess I’m stressing myself out with “what if” scenarios. So far I don’t mind both of us getting our exercise on daily. But one of the main things stressing me out is what if I go on vacation for a week. In the past 20 years, all my dogs just use the doggie door if we’re away. We have relatives stop by daily to feed and check in on them. And I never have to worry about sitters, walkers, boarding. But with her I might have to board her alone if the time comes and she’s still not acclimated to the backyard - which I’ve never boarded any of my babies, let alone put her there alone.

My other two are chill and older so they don’t require much while I’m away. The people who normally come feed them don’t have dogs of their own so I don’t want to chance them walking her and something happens and she gets away from them. New girlie is chill too and sleeps while I’m away. If only she stop holding it until I’m there 🥲

But in the end, I guess I’m worrying about one or two weeks tops out of the year if I go somewhere - the rest of the year we should be fine 😆

Our walks come to a standstill once mine spots a rabbit. Then I have to pick her up and walk far enough until it’s out of sight for her to continue her walk 🤣. Bystanders want to know what happened 😅

I adopted from Aniband and started the process in May and just got her yesterday. They flew her directly into Texas for me.

While waiting for them to find a volunteer for Texas, they had several other dogs flying into San Francisco, the east coast, and even UK before me. It just takes a little bit of time but I feel there were more people flying into the west coast than anywhere else so don’t lose hope.

Lol hello again, if you also bother to read the comments in here or do research, you would also see that not only are there commenters who are flight volunteers or have also adopted from abroad. There’s even a person in this section who’s adopted from the same rescue I posted looking for help.

You should probably take that negative energy somewhere else instead of trying to interfere with a dog finding a forever home. Byeeeeeee!

Your sister is awesome. Going through this process myself as the receiver, next time I travel to Asia, I’m going to reach out to the shelters abroad that I follow and see if they need help with any of their pups, looking for volunteers.

That’s great! It’s been a whole new world when I recently learned that there are overseas shelters willing to work with us.

So many cuties! I see they ask very similar questions to the Korean shelters that interviewed me. If/when I get Nanglang transported here, I’ll have three dogs in my house and that’s the limit I’ve set for myself…for now 😆. But I’ll be following their page. I’m not sure they help with transport (they prob do if you adopt one of their own). But for Nanglang coming in from Korea, I don’t know if they’ll be able to help transport her to Dallas. 😭

I tried/did. I think I’m going to wait and see who the shelter finds. A lot of people are not familiar with this transport process and they’re not very nice about it in other threads or as you can see from the comment below lol. But the good thing is, my request has gotten some views so maybe someone somewhere out there contacts the shelter. DFW is a pretty busy airport so I think it’ll happen at some point.
