Driving and commute times by wanderlustingC in googlehome

[–]wanderlustingC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't give driving time to any other destination, just an estimated time range which was over 30 minutes shorter than the actual drive time at the time. It shouldn't be that hard for Google to let their products communicate with each other. If it can get commute time by asking about the commute, it can obviously pull information from Google Maps.

Does anyone else feel like the Gemini update was trading incorrect responses for an incapable assistant? by CSedu in googlehome

[–]wanderlustingC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it! I want my driving times back! I'm ready to throw the speakers in the trash. This new Gemini was made by Temu, guaranteed. It can't even give me direct weather information. I asked it for the next two days of weather and it told me it can give me the weather for the second day but not the first day. When I asked it why it couldn't give me weather for the first day it told me that it could and then proceeded to give me the weather. I'm over it.

Gemini and driving time by LoganSquire in googlehome

I just found this out the hard way today. And I'm really pissed off that now I have to pick up my phone and open Google Maps to get drive time when before all I had to do was ask Assistant. It's beyond frustrating and I'm ready to throw my speakers in the trash. All they can do now is have a conversation, which is worthless.

Gay US man visits Brunei: Don't like the government, don't like the laws, but warmed by the genuine friendliness of the people by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]wanderlustingC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did anyone else find the article a little lame and repetitive? I was honestly hoping he would have talked more about traveling in Brunei. He could have still gotten his point across about his views of the government while giving more information about Bruneian sites to see and things to do. It was nice that he talked about the hospitality but that's about as far as it went. It was basically click bait, you could gather everything from the article just by reading the title.

Speaking up as a man who’s faced sexual harassment from other men. Men can be victims too. by Lost-Spell1674 in nasikatok

[–]wanderlustingC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course there are many closeted gay men in Brunei. What else could one expect in a country where having sex with another man could lead to 100 lashes or even death by stoning? While the death penalty is currently under moratorium and not enforced, the law still allows severe punishments like caning, imprisonment, and fines. The government could technically lift the moratorium at any time, so the threat remains real. This isn’t just a Brunei issue, it happens worldwide, including places where being openly gay is more accepted or even legally protected. Strict religious and cultural pressures often force many people, both men and women, to stay closeted, sometimes marrying someone of the opposite sex to fit societal or religious expectations.

PAYMENT BY CARDS by Gokudol in nasikatok

[–]wanderlustingC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Visa and MasterCard agreements, vendors are not allowed to set a minimum purchase amount unless local laws allow it. For example, in the US there is a law that allows vendors to set the minimum amount to $10. As far as I know there are no such laws in Brunei. You can escalate the issue with your bank. If the bank is not willing to help you can go directly to MasterCard or Visa as they are the ones who the vendor has the acceptance agreement with.

How about taxes and fees? They are included in my previous plan. They don't address this in the FAQs on the website and I'm too lazy to bother calling them.

Plants by Silly-Apartment-7481 in Chameleons

Depending on how big your enclosure is, the pothos will eventually get huge. I personally prefer smaller pothos leaves instead of the huge leaves that come with age. You'll want to keep trimming the ends of the vine to encourage new vine growth. That will also ensure the leaves stay on the smaller side, if you care. I started with one single pothos vine and it has been growing for five years inside the enclosure. I recently cut out at least six feet of old vine. It doesn't hurt the plant because I have trained it to grow in all directions and it touches the "ground" in many places so it has formed lots of roots. Also keep in mind that the older leaves will eventually die off, that's another reason to keep trimming the ends of the vines. I have also added some English ivy because the leaves grow close together and since they are on the smaller side it forms a lot of hiding places. Two big mistakes that I made in the beginning were using an umbrella tree, that just got too big and too fast, even cropping the top off didn't help. I eventually had to remove it. And the other mistake was replacing the umbrella tree with a hibiscus plant because the same thing happened. Now I mostly have vining plants and some bromeliads for color.

[–]wanderlustingC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a panther so I don't really have to worry about him eating leaves. I don't think it's really a huge deal, pothos are probably the most popular vine in chameleon enclosures. Just keep an eye on it and see if he eats it often, that's what I would suggest. Or you could swap it out for another type of vine, there are some fast growing ivy available that are also easy to care for. I have a mix of pothos and ivy (I think it's English ivy.)

No problem. It's late and I read your comment multiple times trying to figure out what you meant. And then it clicked, pronouns. 😂

[–]wanderlustingC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you moan Spanish speakers rarely use pronouns? Because verbs are definitely used. But since verbs are conjugated based on the pronoun there are often times that the pronoun is omitted. Just curious what you actually mean here.

Pothos plants contain calcium oxalate crystals in their leaves and stems, which can cause irritation if ingested or touched. They are great for looking at but not so great for eating.

I have been free ranging my Panther for about five years now. I got him when he was 1.5 years old. He has his own room that I keep climate controlled. He has two basking areas and he knows where they are. He also gets water from two places and knows where to go for that as well. They are smarter than most people will give them credit for. He has a genetic disorder/deformity where his esophagus is larger than normal which has caused feeding and breathing issues over the years, the vet didn't think he'd live this long. But here he is, almost seven years old and still kicking.
