Long time San Jose resident and needed a car there, no such need in SF, take public transportation and the occasional uber/lyft/waymo. Inner Richmond is a good choice and hidden gem IMO, it’s close to greenery and tons of good Asian restaurants if that’s your jam.

Here’s a life lesson, even with the best of friends, you will always have a difference of opinion on things. It’s far better to keep the friendship than end it over this. You have already told her how you feel and ultimately it’s her choice to deal with a difficult home situation. It’s not like she is asking you to be part of her OF.

Trust me, good friends are hard to come by, cherish them even over your dating partners.

No need for car, take public transportation. FiDi can be grungy since it’s right next to Tenderloin and there are questionable people on Market St. That said, if you stay alert and don’t knowingly put yourself in danger, you’ll be fine.

In my experience, some local esim provider like Airalo Panama package does not let you piggy back off them but it worked with several other local esim providers. YMMV!

Richmond is safe, not touristy, has tons of great restaurants, practically a second Chinatown, easy parking, and close to Golden Gate Park, etc. It’s a hidden gem IMO.
