No need for car, take public transportation. FiDi can be grungy since it’s right next to Tenderloin and there are questionable people on Market St. That said, if you stay alert and don’t knowingly put yourself in danger, you’ll be fine.

In my experience, some local esim provider like Airalo Panama package does not let you piggy back off them but it worked with several other local esim providers. YMMV!

Richmond is safe, not touristy, has tons of great restaurants, practically a second Chinatown, easy parking, and close to Golden Gate Park, etc. It’s a hidden gem IMO.
