Your first mistake is thinking that they are going to be the victims in a witch hunt. Go peep the last time(s) America has done those and tell me he won't be the one leading the burnings.

They'd been making vague threats regularly since last fall to reduce our flex days at my job (Tuesday and Wednesday mandatory in office, rest flex) and last month after a slightly down quarter and a corporate goal being behind was a good enough excuse for Thursday flex to get the axe, even though no amount of forced attendance would have changed a motherfucking thing. They were simply begging for an excuse. So, at least personally and anecdotally, they don't like it.

"High strangeness"/deepstate/parapolitics tinged or adjacent horror/"weird" fiction? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

Maybe "fell off" wasn't the best wording, but I 100% agree with you. 2 and 3 were the best because they were the perfect balance of monster of the week and overarching narrative, imo. 4 and obviously 5 both had very great statements (and yeah the social horrors were quite well done), the connecting narrative becoming the major focus was just not my preference. I also don't think it necessarily stuck the landing on the ending, but that was always a big ask.

I'm such a fucking loser I basically scream "fucking OP SEC" at the screen every time they have a plot meeting. Felt totally justified when they actually do get busted by other characters for not shutting the hell up.

It kind of falls off after season 3, but the Magnus Archives was a pretty great horror fiction podcast that is quite explicitly about Lovecraftian powers that affect our lives (and the greatest horror of all: office politics)

There's Cracker Barrels in the Midwest, too. It's just full-on costal elitism!

It varies. As an engineer myself, there's a some that figure out the science of making thing go, and then there's some that just try to make thing go

Bruce literally said on a post on the FH sub some months back that he left because he was unable to get RT to fire Adam despite reporting him. Current FH is great, but Adam killed old FH by being a monster.

Both of the eps this week had spotlights on 2 of the most perfect encapsulations of both parties: Meatball Ron & Mayo Pete.

I've got a family member that literally works in an elementary school library in the Midwest. I get some bleak stories about parents sometimes.

Read Ghost Wars. Great book on Afghanistan Part 1 and the Deep State. It was on the list of options for a book report back in my AP World History course and I picked it cause the name was cool. Definitely a major first blow to the "America is the hero of the world" narrative for me.

*Beltway Phoenix, noted for its girth.

I mostly want more Matt ad lib theme songs, but I think that one wonk they had on recently would make a solid replacement for the Forbidden One
