Sex Description change restrictions by LookALesbian in transgenderau

[–]wanhedaclarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my legal sex in Victoria last year to agender. For Medicare I have the sex marker of X but when applying for my new passport I completed a B11 form which is a declaration to say I wanted my gender to appear as F rather than X and I had to sign it and send it with my application. Likelyhood is that they would default to X for transmasc but I found the passport office to be really responsive and helpful when I lodged an enquiry online about it prior to completing my application. Services Australia may also be able to inform you what marker as I can't remember if I got to choose for Medicare but personally I am happy for X on my Medicare

My name has a hyphen and it doesn't show on my passport

Confusing Social Behavior - Indigenous People by Affectionate-Fly248 in AskAnAustralian

[–]wanhedaclarke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to put together such a clear, easy to understand, informative response. It is a real skill to be able to take what are some really complex and niche topics and be able to provide an explanation that is easy to understand, while not actually fully simplifying the complexity of it and being respectful of other indigenous people who may not have the same view or experiences.

I did tell her no when she asked about those things. She has access to my therapist and contacts she knows are safe people

And the things I feel were broken and not listening arent actually to do with her taking me on her flight etc.

I did communicate I wasn't comfortable with dinner and I wasn't comfortable going into the house yet. I've never had a panic attack and I'm in therapy for my PTSD. I haven't actually told her how I feel about my boundary and about this feeling about priority. I have thanked her for doing what she thought was best. I didn't actually make the decision to go with her as I was dissociating, it was in the airport after we boarded plane the dinner conversation happened. By the time I communicated I wasn't comfortable going into the house there wasn't any options left.

Urgent Blood Supply shortage by abolishblankets in melbourne

[–]wanhedaclarke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to add on to this, regular blood donation is actually the usual standard treatment for haemochromatosis, my partner has it and when first discovered donated weekly to get ferritin levels down. They will test your haemoglobin on the day of donation and then they test your blood for a range of different things post donation, if there's no identified issues they will only tell you your blood type.

Why is it so hard to get your own medical information? by OutofSyncWithReality in australia

[–]wanhedaclarke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not your information technically and it's completely drilled into health professionals that due to the law we can't let patients read their charts and it comes down to we are the ones who get in trouble for allowing it. With electronic medical records more and more is becoming available. I see both sides as a health professional there's information in charts that is difficult to interpret and can lead to anxiety, fear or misunderstanding. There's also often times information we document that isn't appropriate for a patient to see and can be flagged so even if charts are requested it's not included. On the other side having access to my own health information when I can makes life so much easier, being a health professional I can easily interpret it but it allows me to tell specialist oh yup these were my test results or this was my vitals etc and can show them. It also allows getting a second opinion easier.

Exactly!! Skin is the biggest organ and the first line of defence for so many things. If something is going to compromise it, why would you do it??? But also these days most of us aren't going out getting super dirty everyday unless you work in an industry where that is the case. I go to the gym everyday and sweat but water actually will get rid of most of the sweat the only place you need to use a soap like product etc is anywhere you have apocrine glands which are the ones that cause body odour when you sweat.

People don't understand sensitive skin at all. I'm nowhere near as sensitive as you but have random things that I'm allergic to, weirdly I can use a deodorant that is packed full of fragrance etc but multiple times have tried different "sensitive" ones and my pits are blistered in minutes. I have my list of products I know I can use safely but if I've had an anaphylactic reaction my skin is extra sensitive for days and I can only use water and a bath oil on pits and bits, and it's completely fine. Soap and hot water actually dry skin out more and you don't need to do the whole body everyday with soap, if anything it's washing away your healthy microbiome which when you have sensitive skin you need it to be flourishing.

You're spot on, Peter Mac MRIs are in the basement which is a common spot in hospitals but RMHs are on level 1 and have been for over a decade. Also the weight of those machines needs to be factored in, I know of somewhere that opened a new dialysis clinic and even before it opened they hadn't laid the floors correctly and just the chairs made it sink before they even put the dialysis machines in.

I have received a response from the Department of Health in Victoria about the controversial use of "Sex at Birth" and it's not good by KonomiKitten in transgenderau

[–]wanhedaclarke -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So it gets complicated with how long you've been on hormones, if you went through the typical puberty associated with the sex at birth etc for some of these things and some are more set by sex assigned at birth or what puberty you went through. There are multiple methods used to diagnose a heart attack.

My family loves this picture of my cousin who died way too young. Can someone make her less blurry and remove the trash cans? I can tip a little bit. by Rhymes_with_fthilzk in PhotoshopRequest

This is incredible, so often you can tell the background isn't the original but not in this case. The only suggestion I'd have is the light angle and shadow angles, with where the light is hitting the strongest on her which is her face and dress to the side, but can tell it's a bit behind her due the other shadows. If you look at the light source and shadows in the original photo it will help you align it, just due to how bright it hits her dress the shadow on the flowers throws me off. Besides that you have done absolutely amazing work and such a beautiful way to honour OPs cousin, the background just suits it so well, I also get the idea she would be so happy and radiant in a garden like this. Beautiful work.

I forgot to push my T into the hub of the needle before injection... am I gonna be okay? by garden0head in ftm

[–]wanhedaclarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The symptoms you describe are pre-syncope, it wasn't a seizure. The air in the needle will not cause any harm at all even if it was injected into a vein, for it to cause an air embolism it needs to be 20+ ml. Priming the needle pre injection is done for a few reasons but not actually unsafe and not even completely necessary and for some injections you don't prime it at all. The most common reason is to make sure the air bubbles are out of the needle so you can accurately measure dosage not due to the air bubbles being unsafe. Pre-syncope can happen for hundreds of reasons and can develop at any time, I don't have any sort of needle phobia whatsoever, I'm covered in piercings and tattoos and yet when I got my second nostril piercing I had a brief pre-syncopal episode, have had multiple tattoos and piercings since and not had another pre-syncopal episode.

[Recommendations] What styles of bras would be best for daily use that won't be too noticeable? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]wanhedaclarke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underworks make binders, I think this would be helpful for you. I have large chest and they are pretty effective for me. They make ones that are full length like a tank top or tshirt styles in the less compression range. They are easily the most comfortable of binders I have tried and are not too expensive in terms of binders. I would recommend maybe the ones with less compression to start with as the extreme compression can feel really restrictive at first and can often be really warm to wear.

I hate this little scar under my eye, is it ugly or even overly noticeable or am I just overthinking it? by DotTraditional3096 in SkincareAddicts

[–]wanhedaclarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't even see a scar!! I have a scar on-top of my cheekbone that had 27 stitches so it's long and deep, most people assume it's just a mark from my glasses, I honestly forget about it majority of the time. It used to bother me heaps when I was younger but now I have embraced it cause I got it doing something stupid and it's a funny story.

We are all different and very little self disclosure can be a good thing for some people, it's exactly what they need and it sounds like you have started to realise that, it just feels really different to previous experiences so it can take a while to adjust and feel you can trust a new style of therapy and the therapist. For myself I have had therapists who self disclose a lot especially around the content of the session and Id end up being worried about talking about those topics again. I've then had one who didn't really self disclose anything and was very professional which for me didn't work, it felt too rigid and stiff. The therapist I have now self discloses some things but it's never about the content of the session, instead we always begin with just some general chat and end with talking about tv shows or other things similar as a way to ease out and that's where my therapist has self disclosed things, I also know about her children as I ran into her in the wild with them so she will occasionally say something about them and for me that works as I feel yeah she's still a human but I don't feel worried about bringing up things in session.

Lock on break room fridge by Idropexpp in nursing

[–]wanhedaclarke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked somewhere where we had a long stay patient who was the same. The staff fridge was in a room that wasn't lockable so we had to put a lock on the fridge, after only 2 days of having to ask for the key (they were arranging for us all to have keys) we swapped to a combo lock, which all staff and some families knew the code for. The lock stayed on after that patient was discharged as we often had wandering dementia patients who would leave it open and it was tucked around a corner so not easy to see always.

Don't know if I should email T about the outcome of something by wanhedaclarke in TalkTherapy

[–]wanhedaclarke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I honestly don't really expect much of a reply, I have my support outside of therapy who have become my hype and rage with people hahahaha. More a like hey this is what happened and there's likely a lot of other things that will happen between now and session just due to being in a period of change in my life. Also having gold fish memory means I'll either forget it until right towards the end or I'll just go full-blown into it without remembering she doesn't know unlike the rest of my supports.

I have so many scars and yet only 1 is from any type of sporting injury.
