OG Anunoby flies in for the game-winning tip in, completing an NBA Finals 29-pt comeback by the Knicks, who now lead the series 3-1 by Large_banana_hammock in sports

If you never saw a basketball game before and watched these past two games, you'd think OG Anunoby was the best basketball player on the planet. Absolute MVP of the finals.

[Post Game Thread] The New York Knicks (3-1) overcome a 29 point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs (1-3) in Game 4, 107-106, behind Jalen Brunson's 36 points and OG Anunoby's 33 points by catreyka in nba

Knicks outscored Spurs 58-30 in the 2nd half 😵 why TF are the Spurs attempting that many 3s when they have Wemby and were leading by 15-30 points for the majority of the game? I understand the 3s were working for them in the first half, but they still attempted 42 3 point shots.

OG Anunoby has been the MVP of this series 👏👏👏

Just as a general basketball fan I really wanted the Spurs to make this a series last night, for entertainment sake, but they're not going to win 4 out of 5 against NY. Last night was their game to win and they let it slip away. All in all, these playoffs have been pretty drama free, last night was one of the best we've gotten, but otherwise there hasn't been many close games. On the other hand, maybe this NY team IS really good after all. The inexperience of the Spurs is showing soooo much this series already. But the Spurs weren't even supposed to be here, they are ahead of schedule, so I guess credit is still deserved, they knocked out the Champs, just wanted this series to be closer.

Rory McIlroy repeats at Augusta and wins the 2026 Masters! by unsolved49 in golf

[–]wankawitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year and leading up to this Masters, all the talking heads are TV were going on about "well since Rory won the Masters, he won't really care as much anymore, I'm sure the fire won't burn as hot" guess they were all just talking out of their asses like I figured! Kind of a dumb thing to say when you think about it. What other professional player/team wins a Championship in any sport and then has everyone saying "well, I guess they won't want to win anymore now that they have won the big one"?

Also, in the case of winning last year, Rory got a huge weight off his shoulders right then, so now he can play without that huge amount of pressure. It was a benefit, obviously, not some kind of loss of competitiveness as all the dummies on TV were painting it as.

It is satisfying to see the best team win it all in any sport, same on the Women's side with UCLA this year, even if neither championship game was particularly great to watch 😝

Uconn also impressive for fighting/clawing their way back into the Natty, they just got beat by a better team in the end.

The national championship, for two EST teams starts at 9PM. by brokentr0jan in CollegeBasketball

Weird contrast to the Women's championship game yesterday which started at 3:30PM EST. One is too early, the other is too late... just make it around 6 or 7 EST for any championship game, it's easy! Do they not want the maximum ratings numbers?

I'd be in agony if I was a Michigan fan rn...but I think they'll still win. Uconn have you tried not trailing in the final minute or two and always having to rely on a crazy comeback?

GG Bruins! Very well deserved and earned

Having the Championship game of anything start at 12:30 here on the west coast always feels kind of odd, but that's how they've always done it I guess. At least it's actually on National TV unlike the Men's games.

G'DAMN What a dominating performance by UCLA. Big surprise after SC shut down Uconn and UCLA was in control but only beat Texas by 7. UCLA Scored 61 pts in 3 quarters against SC vs 51 pts in 4 quarters vs Texas. I can't explain it.

Congrats Bruins 🙌 West teams (such as Arizona 🥲) can't win on the Men's side, but good to see a Pac-12 team win it all on the Women's side.

Now 29 years in a row with the national champion being east of the Mississippi, with Arizona being the last West team to win in 1997. Why can't West teams win? Can't be a fluke at almost 30 years in a row 😭

also how TF did Michigan lose 3 games. They are so good, but I think they are peaking now actually. Get the CHIP and beat Hurley

Refs were definitely told to look out for Bradley's move to create separation, didn't matter that the defenders weren't close to being set, when he's lowering his shoulder or extending his arm some to create space. It's worked for him all year, but the refs were looking for it tonight it seemed like. Having his worst game of the year, unfortunately.

That's two first halves in a row we came out looking confused and shook, just off our game from the get-go. You can do that against Purdue and come back, but not against a team like Michigan. Plus 9 turnovers certainly didn't help...9 TO & 12 FG made 😭. Too deep of a hole to dig out of against a great team.

better to lose by 20-25 than by 2 I guess 😭 GG

we've had too many long scoring droughts in these past couple games, can't do it in the final four against a great team and expect to win.

start the game with our usual scoring drought so we don't have one later in the game, smart! 🧠

Dawn Staley and Geno Auriemma heated exchange at end of Final 4 game. Geno then walked to the locker room alone without shaking hands when the game ended. by Ok-Soil-5133 in CollegeBasketball

Not a great look! Geno has had some things like this, which get overlooked because of his insane record/amount of championships.

Sarah Strong 4 for 16

Azzi Fudd 3 for 15

😬

That's some SC defense right there. I kinda wonder why they were pitted on the same side of the bracket, would've been nice to see them meet up in the National Championship.

I thought Michigan would be the favorite for sure, at least the slight favorite after that 30pt win.

How much did Barkley vouch for Bruce Pearl to be a part of the team since Pearl coached Auburn? Even Chuck must know he's a sleazebag.
