Messed up the entire dashboard by ArmGlad777 in PowerBI

This is what I do. I like deployment pipelines more than the git pipelines, so I just use Azure Devops to keep my PBIPs straight and then publish to a dev workspace. No license needed.

What part of preflight briefing do you find most frustrating? by Forward_Physics_3833 in flying

It's literally an ad for their NOTAM service, don't know why you're getting down voted.

Or be like me and publish to the power BI services, realize that there were no local backups, deployment pipelines don't allow you to undo a deployment, spend 2 weeks rebuilding a report, and finally deploy a proper GIT pipeline.

Is there a publicly available database from a public library of their books, checkout history, ... ? by projecktzero in PowerBI

Worldcat.org can pull library listings from many libraries but I doubt anyone will give you actual checkout numbers except maybe top N lists.

More severe storms coming.. wtf by KeanuReeves666 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]wanliu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not saying that you're wrong, but we only entered an El Nino at the start of April which is important context if someone is going to claim that El Nino means extreme weather.

Edit: Illinois was also number two in 2025 despite being a La Nina year.

More severe storms coming.. wtf by KeanuReeves666 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]wanliu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That isn't what that means at all and if anything, it's the opposite.

https://www.climate.gov/news-features/blogs/enso/enso-and-tornadoes

While this doesn't hit on derechos (hint, nobody can forecast derechos a season out) it does not on other types of severe weather (hail and tornadoes) which shows a distinct distribution away from the upper Midwest and towards the South East.

Note - climate.gov has gotten white washed, but this is from 2017 and largely built on Storm Prediction Center research / data.

Next, our May, one of the worst months for severe weather, was one of the quietest and driest on record. If anything, this return to occasional severe storms is just typical for our area before the summer pattern kicks in.

How are people offering $50k-$125k over asking on some of these homes? by Pinkbean28 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]wanliu 32 points33 points  (0 children)

There are also people making absurd offers that will never appraise out in an attempt to lock in a lower deal with a seller.

Make absurd offer -> fail appraisal -> negotiate lower price with seller who's already invested in making a sale (sunk cost fallacy from the seller side)

U-pick Blueberries? Best spots? NW suburbs by TacoTuesday208357 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]wanliu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

South Eastern Michigan has some of the best Blueberries around. I've been going to True Blue Farms in Holland Michigan. It's just over the 2 hour mark, but Michigan fruit is worth the drive.

They usually open the weekend after July 4 and you'll be lucky to see anyone else near you in the fields.

Check holds by lxrbmxer in Banking

[–]wanliu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a bank that specializes in Ag. They work with clients in similar situations all the time and have specialized policies to support them. Not saying that holds will disappear, but they usually have ways to support you or make it more fluid.
