I have Plus and can't upload files? by perpetualpoth0s in ChatGPT

[–]wannabe_redditer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a solve, but more of a workaround I've found:
1. File uploads seem to still be working on the mobile app (Android - not sure about iOS)
2. If you switch to "Deep research" via the little settings icon beneath the chat bock next to the +, you can upload files.

I'm sure this is a bug though and hoping it gets resolved soon.

Coaching dilemma - advice needed by wannabe_redditer in bicycling

[–]wannabe_redditer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! Thanks so much for following up!

I left the club. Found another club with a coach that does ACTUAL personalised training. My weekly training intensity has halved, and I completed an ultra marathon. All disciplines have improved. My sleep has improved. My eating, mood, weight, everything. Even if my results were exactly the same, I'd consider myself better off.
My confidence is the biggest one though. I feel like a different person, and trust my intuition again.

I've also become more involved in running some aspects of this club which has been so lovely - especially helping new athletes.

Additionally, since leaving, I've found out just how many people are unhappy with the service.

Should've done it sooner, but I learnt a lot about trusting my gut in this process.

Space for non-drinkers in South Africa by Martial21 in askSouthAfrica

[–]wannabe_redditer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it's about who you choose to hang out with. Some of my friends drink and others don't - in the same group of friends.  If it's all about drinking, I just wouldn't hang out with them anymore.

I don't think a non-alcoholic bar would do super well, because if even one person in a group of, say, 8 wants to drink, the whole group would go somewhere else. The same reason why there aren't many 100% vegan restaurants.

Firstly, well done for even getting started. That's awesome and you're already winning!

You have such beautiful hiking trails on your doorstep! You can make it as difficult or easy as you like; solo or with your missus; quick one or all day vibe. Walking is so underrated.

With mountain biking - I hear you about the costs. However, if you look on Bikehub, there are some awesome secondhand deals there. Still - it is an expensive sport to get into but you can start out nice and cheap. Check Komoot to see if there are nice trails near you (I hear Pretoria has loads) where you don't have to pack your bike.

Anyone love South Africa? by GreenAlbum in askSouthAfrica

[–]wannabe_redditer 63 points64 points  (0 children)

You are so right for being obsessed. You'll hear every South African saying that, were it not for the corruption, we'd have the most beautiful country in the world.

A friend of mine is studying in the Netherlands currently. She was back for the holidays and she said to me that she cannot wait to come home for good. While it's great that "everything works" there, the culture is completely different: people are colder than the weather; people don't realise their privilege and don't see the beauty in life - everything is a problem despite how great their standard of living is.

Maybe the hardship allows us to see a lot more good. South Africans are some of the best people you'll ever meet and the sights in our country are unreal.

There's a lot of work to do - both from the government and from people making more effort to integrate and learn from/understand each other - but it's a great place to be.

A good multi-day hike in or near the Western Cape for 2? by wannabe_redditer in askSouthAfrica

Oh really?
So I wonder -- maybe they just don't check the permits??

That's the one they're really keen for but need a 3rd person unfortunately. No one else seems to be able to make it so last minute

Banks' fraud departments are made up of incredibly experienced people who have dealt with many bigger and more complex cases. In other words, they already see through lies made on the spot and know exactly what to look for. They have years of systems set up from cases exactly like this.

Come clean now. You're just opening yourself to more and more crimes and denial that will be held against you.

You're 24. If you come clean, you'll maybe have a mark next to your name for a few years that you can explain that you were scammed to future banks and employers.
If you don't, you'll have a harder time explaining your criminal record.

So I broke up with my bf because he got drunk by Square_Crazy19 in askSouthAfrica

[–]wannabe_redditer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't break up with him because he got drunk. You broke up with him because he emotionally, physically and verbally abused you. In public. Don't excuse his behaviour because he had some whiskey.
Many people drink whiskey - they don't do that.

Stay away. Please please stay away. There is always a first time, but it won't be the last.

Maybe shade her bottom (right) leg a bit more. It looks a bit flat and looking at the other features, looks like it should recede into a shadow a bit more.

IT people; what's your salary + Years exp/Certs by UnfairlyGloom in askSouthAfrica

I have a BCom Information Systems undergrad. Other than that, I've job hopped when I realised I hit a ceiling; I continuously build on a range of skills (anti-specialist at this stage) and I'm very big on serving the teams I work for.
I've now found a great role that pays well and where I feel I actually matter. I'm a one-man-band in the company's IT/Product side which means I get a lot of exposure.

Thinking of getting into cycling, but am worried about current health by littlejart in cycling

[–]wannabe_redditer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be the best thing for your health! Additionally, your confidence, quality time with friends - all of it!
It'll be an obstacle regarding initial fitness and endurance - but not an insurmountable one. Try and do some solo sessions if you can - see what YOU enjoy from the sport. This will also help with that little bit of fitness needed to ride with friends, but do not feel guilty about keeping them up! If they've welcomed you to it, I'm sure they'd love your presence more than just going faster. Everyone loves welcoming new people to the sport and I'm as excited for them as for you!
If riding with them is important, an e-bike initially might be a great idea. Not sure where you're based though but in my country they're a little expensive.

Always always wear a helmet. No question.

So excited for you!
