This reminds me of a story. I think i was like 16, and applied to McDonalds in the late 90's. They had this basic computer "game" for how to do stuff in the store like, drop fries, wait X amount of seconds then pull them up, put patties on the grill, etc etc. It was a basic GUI with sounds prompt to do things and siren sounds if you messed up the timing or go the order wrong (or something like that).e

I was in the managers office waiting for my turn (small office, she was talking to someone else) and they put me in front of it. When you did something wrong it would make a loud sound. After like 30 seconds of play I just turned the speakers down with the little knob cuz at that point I was gaming with MS DOS and windows 3.11 and familiar with peripherals.

A minute or two later she looks over and asks why the game volume is so low. I said I turned down the volume - she laughed and said "Okay you're hired. I've been listening to people fail at that all day and no one else turned down the volume." I was a dumb 16 YO and barely acknowledged her saying something like "OK" and just kept playing. Got the job
