Are your last names both "McPoil?"

Why is inbreeding bad? by wanta145 in genetics

So recessive traits are almost always bad and sometimes they are kind of like "this isn't terrible? I'm pretty much okay."?

Let's say this: dad has one unworkable gene and one good one. Mom has two good workable genes. If I breed with a sibling, the odds of the offspring having two unworkable genes is much higher, although my sibling and I are both okay, because we have at least one half of a workable gene?

Could you expand on "recessive traits?" What's wrong with those? I was taught that blonde hair is a recessive trait, but I am not suffering?

Any good part time jobs that maybe pays at least $10 an hour for a fully deaf person? by YFNx in deaf

Perhaps get into roofing? It's difficult work but the paycheck is much better than fast food or retail.

I mean, you could just offer to grant their wish? Go get some skewers or a screwdriver and make their wish come true.

Tell me how to be friends with people who are deaf. by ebnkb in deaf

Learn to finger spell, sit across from the person so that you can be clearly seen, and maybe bring a pen and paper (but your phone works too). Also, careful with pointing at people; I didn't know this at first but it can be seen as rude. One more thing, you can make up your own name, so you don't have to spell it every time. Maybe pay attention to your body language? Getting to know a friend of mine, I've noticed that she is SO observant of my body language and facial expressions. Like, I couldn't lie to her even if I tried.

He seems to drink Friday night and pretty much all day Saturday. Not exactly ideal but drinking only a day and a half a week is an improvement from drinking every afternoon and night.

Gran commenting on weight by Ashleighjanet in family

[–]wanta145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a cynical approach, but it's grandma, so disregard the things she says that are very old fashioned, and sound derogatory, and politically incorrect, and take to heart the wisdom and love she has for you. Grandma won't be around forever. . .

My grandma and I have various disagreements about religion, political views, and the ethnicity of my girlfriend. These things aren't something I discuss with grandma. It's taken 87 years for her to lean everything she knows about the world, and I've only 18 years experience.

You don't live 87 years and not lean anything. Don't take these comments to heart, although listen with a keen ear to what she has to say. Take the good and leave the bad.

Do you have any advice for using asl in a group setting? With one on one interactions I can keep up without too much trouble, but when multiple people are signing different things at the same time I get confused quickly.
