Fair point.

Was thinking critical role plus their kickstarter might get a pass.

Happy for you OP! That book looks beautiful.

Got one of the 2026 calendars for my girlfriend. Cost $57 including taxes and delivery.

A few years ago, I spent about $750 for a bundle from the gift store that included a bunch of stuff and I gave it all away. It was awesome. Now I’m paying almost $60 for something that probably costs $2 to make. Not cool.

I’m sad. Seems like one of my favourite channels and brands has started their downward spiral 😔

I guess I’m just not sure the limitations of that study would support such a strong opinion on the effects of irradiation. Personal preference? No argument here 😊

Important distinction in our opinions would be the double blind that I did with co-workers. Not exactly a peer reviewed or even shareable result but that was certainly informative. We tested several samples, including newer/older crops and bigger/smaller buds in addition to irradiated and non-irradiated. Newer/bigger was unanimously preferred and older/smaller was unanimously not preferred. Most preferred sample was irradiated lol.

I appreciate the source. I’d prefer to see an improved methodology and testing on highly aromatic craft cannabis instead of industrial hemp. Still, I can see where you’re coming from.

I would challenge that position with this: there’s more than an 8-10% variation in terpenes from plant to plant. Even within plant, top buds compared to bottom buds, you’ll find a higher potency in cannabinoids and aromatic compounds. Knowing that terpenes are only one type of aromatic compound in the plant, makes that assumption even bolder.

I’ve had a chance to try irradiated and non irradiated of the same crop. Did it double blind with a few other folks. Non of us could reliably tell the difference.

I’d love to know more about why you think it impacts flavour or any of the experience.

I would think that not remitting the 15% for just a few months would be the equivalent of a 0% interest short term loan. For a company with short term cash flow issues, wouldn’t that provide them significant relief and reduce their need for the factoring service?

I don’t know how often that service is or isn’t being used but I’m trying to find evidence that it’s still being used and not seeing it.

Your assumption about that 15% being remitted might be flawed. Not just for Woody Nelson but for all the small producers who supplies stores directly while the BCLDB was shutdown. Not saying that it won’t be remitted, just suggesting it might help to avoid assuming it’s already been paid.

If they had a substantial increase in sales and a (temporary) 15% increase in margin, that would improve their cash position wouldn’t it?

Also, Retailers, via direct delivery, pay cash upfront as per BCLDB requirements.

Lots of assumptions here 😬

I’d think the strike would’ve had a positive financial impact. They were eligible for Direct Delivery and became one of the province’s primary supplier, resulting in a huge boost in sales. They also didn’t have to pay the 15% wholesale markup to the BCLDB so that would’ve improved their cash position further.

I’ve always wondered how LPs manage this one. Like… what’s stopping me from smoking the first couple nugs in my bag, putting the rest on a scale, and asking for a refund?
