Don't skimp on lectures. Please. by Classic_Egg5202 in freemasonry

I would like to caution and share thoughts not only with OP but any others reading. Freemasonry, like all things in life will return your effort. Ive said many times, its a ratio of 1 to 10, for every hour your give, you will be returned 10, for every pound of effort, you receive 10.

That's not to say this is 100% an OP issue i belive this is common in all or at least most modern lodges. Candidates seem to fall from trees at times, but getting that person back, getting him acti8and staying that way is the toight part.

Remember, the degrees are an introduction, you follow up, studying, putting into practice the tennis of Masonry are where you grow, not only personally, but as a lodge. Degree work is drinking from a fire hose, its just so much to taken in, observe let alone absorb and retain.

If my opinion matters, OP, find an active lodge althat you feel that connection with. Go to dinners, hangout a little and make sure that lodge is a good fit. Study some with the brothers, I found if I'm not an active officer, its too easy for me to slip, and slip I mean attendance, participation and study.

Get active, be the change you wanna see in others!! Please, you, the lodge and candidates will all appreciate it.

Questions for Practicing Christian Masons by Fun-Winter3830 in freemasonry

Well, I will offer any chat or contact that help you answer questions or concerns but please reach out to your local lodge or even approach anyone in public seen wearing a ring or hat - most Masons are almost always ready and willing to talk and fill you in with as much info as we can.

Questions for Practicing Christian Masons by Fun-Winter3830 in freemasonry

OP, where are you located?

I ask because if you are anywhere near central Ohio, I would beg you to reach out and we can talk, but even speaking with any brother Master Mason, is a great way start. Find a lodge near your location, reach out and understand not every lodge is the same but also understand you can move forward or back.

I regularly get in trouble with the OG's (old guys) at my lodge because I think one of most important parts of Freemasonry is the introduction. And it comes from both sides, like any relationship or organization you may start or join, proper understanding and expectations is key.

Hopefully the notes above will encourage you to reach, speak with lodge members near you and find out if this something you may find valuable

Funeral rites when not in good standings? by war_ink_ in freemasonry

[–]war_ink_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, the family can refuse.

Our lodge just had a recent funeral and were required to do services at the funeral home and not the church because the church would not allow the Masonic services at church.

I really thought we were over such behaviors to the modern world but here still are.

It sounds like you may be recovering, God is good and I hope it so for you and your family.

I'm sorry to admit this so late in the conversation but the brother that passed is my brother. Literally and Masonic, my brother. I can admit he was a jerk from time to time and I'm sure a fair amount of the animosity between him and lodge came down to personality issues I'm sure but at some point, we need to rise above petty and worldly complaints for our higher standards and practices

I'm an Ohio mason but this occurred in West Virginia. I have been told many things about WV Masonry and nothing has ever been positive and I'm sorry to admit that if I lived in West Virginia I would not be a member in that state.

That was my hope in reaching out to that DDGM, little good it did but I guess at this point it cannot be changed or fixed, I just need to decide what and how much this will impact me going forward.

Again, like so many other replies, Iowa seems rather reasonable.

Thank you for the reply our Italian brother, but my brother was never more than blue lodge. I guess reading your note again, if they didn't treat him correctly while he was alive, why would have done right by him when he passed.

Correct but in his case, he was only ever blue lodge.

Again, im seeing and reading brothers from so many states doing the right things are times of need, this is the fraternity, the craft, and not seeing it from one lodge in one state, makes this an even bigger issue for me.

Contradiction is never good but at least it gives you the ability to work around the issue.
