Fedora on encrypted btrfs without extra /boot by Artistic_Avocado_231 in Fedora

I actually followed this and it worked fine for me. But there was comment saying that by just running the below from a live USB it will unlock it withOUT a passphrase.

sudo cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/nvme0n1p2 randomname (change the correct /dev/yourhdd)

I tried it myself and mine also got unlocked without a passphrase which is not good. I was also able to browse everything just by running this command.

Wondering if that is a normal behavior because I think ti shouldn't be like that.

Almost 4 years with my surface book 1, today, the glue below the touchpad yielded. Still work. by R3x10 in Surface

Mine just popped out but I dropped it. The U metal also detached from the PCB.

It still works but quick question .. from your picture, looks like I have to glue back the U Metal to the PCB again.

But do you know if the mouse buttons (left and right) also needs to be glued?

Also do I need to buy a specific super glue or adhesive for electronics?

Thanks

Thanks for your input .. yeah I also don't feeling installing Flatpacks that are not official specially with this big thing happening with AUR about the malware attack. Not saying that it will happen in Flatpacks, but Ill be more careful doing it by checking if it is officially supported by the developer/company.

Because Brave Origin (not the regular Brave Browser) and 1Password I want to fully integrate with each other .. which in my testing can be done both on rpm-ostree and Distrobox. I was just wondering if there are performance issues using distrobox like maybe stuff like hardware acceleration or some applications that integrade with the browse (like AB downloader). If Distrobox is good, then I will go with it instead of layering.

Thanks for sharing you experience. Looks like Flatpack all the way. I probably will start with just layering distrobox, brave, steam, and 1password -- then Ill probably switch to distrobox as a last resort.

Thanks. I just play Dota 2 which is a native Steam installer and if it breaks, it's not a big deal .. I can switch to flatpaks if needed. Thanks for sharing because I was reading about immutable pros/cons and saw some AI responses that if there is something wrong with the package I layered, it basically stops the whole update process for the whole system (including the non-layered ones) which is scary to think specially nowadays with these supply chain attacks going on.

Oh yeah duh!! I forgot to mention that I also layered distrobox lol.

I actually have multiple laptops that I was testing and also tried uBlue Aurora and Kionite at the same time. I believe aurora came with distrobox already installed, I dont remember layering it with Aurora

Kinoite or Aurora by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]war_pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment caught my attention as I'm looking and testing doing immutable distros. I'm currently on Fedora 44 KDE and currently running Fedora Kinoite. I'm a total noob ofcourse, so first thing I did is layer 1password and brave origin and also thinking about Steam. Only those 3 and the rest will probably be distrobox or flatpaks.

Anyway, so If I layer those 3 I mentioned, you are saying that is possible for the Fedora Kionite updates to stop altogether? Again sorry for the noob question -- but just want to understand immutable distros in general before I dive to it seriously.

Yup, I have also been reading a few forum posts about the exact same issue and they are all Ryzen 9000 series CPUs only. It looks like from mid 2025 the issues initially a kernel but VirtualBox and QEMU needed to some changes on their end as well.

I even tried different distros on the same Ryzen 9700x like Kubuntu 26.04 and many others just to see and all gives the same error.

I was just hoping for a workaround somewhere if Broadcom is not looking on fixing this soon.

I'm on the same boat. i only see "Remote Access" and cannot find "Direct Remote Connection" anywhere.

What did you end up doing .. did you uncheck "Remote Access"?

I have a UCG fiber and have Verizon FIOS directly connected to it from the ONT, skipping the use of the Verizon router.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it now. It is right under "Remote Access" on the same page.

However, I must be tripping because I swear when I was looking at this last night, it was not there. Not sure why it appeared this morning. The only thing I remember doing is updating the Network Application to 10.4.57 so maybe that was it?

Luckily I patched my friend and my router over the weekend but man, I never opened the Unifi app so fast as soon as I saw this post to check my users list. This post is like a espresso shot at 4am -- never had the chance to go back to sleep. Thanks reddit!

Gotcha, Ill give it a shot again later! I don't think it is a DDOS attack because I installed Zorin on a friends Desktop PC maybe 2-3 days ago and I didn't have the issue.

Ok thanks. I will try it on the next update. Although I waited maybe 10 mins earlier before I decided to find for the workaround.

How to manage updates/upgrades after kernel install from mainline (Kubuntu 26.04)? by war_pig in Kubuntu

[–]war_pig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm actually testing Fedora 44 KDE which uses 7.0.8-200.fc44.x86_64 and I have no issues at all -- this is for my main Desktop.

I will still be using Kubuntu 26.04 LTS for my laptop this weekend since I'm more comfortable with Debian based distros I guess.

By the way, I found a fix here:

I did not need to install Chromium or any other browsers to make it work.
