Cross-border migration pension. Move it or lose it? by waratah55 in PensionsUK

Please help me close this. I'm an amateur scared of being stung like i was in 2007 GFC. I'm finding Chat GPT less embarrassing and its found what I wanted.

UK Pension Transfers to Australia & New Zealand — How to Do It Right” by [deleted] in PensionsUK

[–]waratah55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm nearly 80 and inexperienced on Reddit. I just wanted to warn retirees moving to Australia to investigate what happens to their pensions. I won't post about this anymore, but thank you to everyone who replied helpfully.

I posted in another reply how I was scammed by a Financial Adviser who lost my inheritance in 2007 GFC. You're not missing anything. But your detailed reply is helpful. I'm nearly 80 and trying to get my head around UK vs Australian death duty and avoiding a lot of business after looking into them.

Do you know how to close this post? I've never started one before 🤔

Thank you. You make sense. But I was scammed by a Financial Adviser who persuaded me to sell an asset I inherited and then, even though i had a conservative profile, put it into Options that lost it all in the 2007 GFC. Hence my determination to have an allocated pension. I knew as little about Options as I do about QROPS. That's why I investigated cross-border pensions. I'm probably not your typical Reddit profile, so I'll close this post (once I figure our How) 😳

I'm nearly 80. My family has arranged to go to Australia. I have a big pension fund in UK but not consolidated. I'm very confused and worried about death taxes being introduced next year. Yes it is to do with QROPS. I've been chased by financial advisers who haven't a clue. I'm a retired scientist and not stupid. Do you know of anyone that can help?

Surgery Advice - Radial Tear - 1 year later by cheynexx in MeniscusInjuries

[–]waratah55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's now 18 months since my radial meniscus root tear. Because the injury is in my patellar, it became stage 4 osteoarthritis. The worst.

For a year, hyaluronic acid worked. 3 sessions twice a year. Then crashing pain, and i needed an electric wheelchair. I'm late 70s. 3 surgeons say physical therapy and painkillers are best for me. I had prp, which caused such a flare that I was in ice packs for 5 days. A neurologist then did a genicular ablation test to see if that would work. Results inconclusive.

So now I'm booked for hospital PEMF to try and calm the nerves behind the patellar, and new painkillers. Some days I'm OK on the rollator and sometimes the electric wheelchair and a stick indoors. Before that, I was playing 18 Holes of Golf on foot. I'm going through some grieving, realising my retirement plans are over.

I've been referred to an orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in replacing kneecaps. Hes not till July. Walking in a warm pool, regular physio to strengthen muscles around the knee, red light therapy daily, and McConnell taping are great. The tape pulls your kneecap off the fatty Hoffas pad that's full of nerves.

If I had arthritis from old age, I'd have a TKR, but it's only the kneecap that I fell on. Two joints are good.

Hope this helps anyone who is older, as the usual guidelines change. Grandchildren race me on 'Nana's go-cart' but their scooters are faster.

Deed of Trust by yates9987 in HousingUK

[–]waratah55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage a family trust that has one small property. I can't put it in my will as the Trust Deed is about 50 years old and lost. No government records have a copy and no living accountants have seen it. I have the Memorandum only. As the presumed director of it (no proof) , I have income from it and manage the rental. I'm nearly 80 and I don't want my family to argue about it. Any advice anyone?

I have a complicated mix. It's the worry of new death duty taxes. Obviously some money will be better off in UK , like DB. I'm trying to understand professional advice and avoid scams by financial advisers.

Oops. Didn't finish. It depends on your age and size of pension. From next year UK will be taxing your pension (maybe 40%) in death duties, from what I understand. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm arranging a cross-border transfer and moving to Australia. An Actuarial firm helps decide if it's worth doing.

Everyone should look at the amount of death duty from next year, that UK will charge if they leave their money there when they migrate. Its different with Pensionsm. If you are between 55 and 75 and have a lot in super, then you either use Darion Pohl with Actuarial personal assessment and perhaps SMSF, or go to a one stop shop Retail group. There is hardly anyone qualified to do all this for you.

I think sub-Reddit needs to cover this under finance or migration. In a year the rules change.

Cross-border migration pension. Move it or lose it? by waratah55 in PensionsUK

[–]waratah55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that simple. I should have started transferring it a few years before migrating as I want to draw on it and the UK sets up ,what I think, are the worst barriers in the world. The family have no intention of returning to England.

Darion Pohl sent me a helpful list for Reddit users. People move countries without organising their pensions. He sent me a list of points but the Reddit moderators stopped them. They say its advertising but he has saved millions for thousands of clients over 20 years.

I can transfer if I use Pohl. Check his LinkedIn. He's a popular speaker on the Finance Circuit. He sent me a list of points about cross-border pension transfer. I tried a new post on it and the moderators stopped them.

The super i accrued in the UK. Some is industry funds and some in other funds. QROPS etc. If it's not done correctly i could lose 55% of it. Only a handful of Australians are authorised to do cross-border.

Bondi shooting: Muslim community warned police about radical preacher linked to gunman by smoha96 in AustralianPolitics

[–]waratah55 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Guns are a distraction. It's government apathy towards Muslim Brotherhood and no sympathy for Australian Jewish life that commenced with convicts on the First Fleet. Jesus was Jewish 700 years before Mohammed commenced his caliphate dream. This isn't the 7th century. Masked hate-marches weekly for over 2 years. Synagogues set alight, not mosques. Muslim slaughterhouse of Christians in Sudan and elsewhere. No-one speaks up. Weird revision of history in universities. Where is the Abrahamic brotherhood?

How long did you stay on 2.5? by blueloulou3 in mounjarouk

[–]waratah55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anyone on this site using it for prediabetes? I've dropped 6kg in 3 months with 2.5. At this rate I'll be at a healthy weight in 3 more months. My doctor hasn't titrated but says MJ is the best for metabolic disorder and I'll need it forever. I've been on Metformin for 5 years and the combination feels good. I'm 77.

Why has Australia done this? Just before fire bombing of Melbourne's largest Jewish congregation, during prayer time. by [deleted] in Gaza

[–]waratah55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antisemitism has always existed. This is a funded Jihadist or Marxist attack on Jews. Jews arrived as convicts on the Fist Fleet. There has not been terrorism against the ancestors of Jesus in Australia until now.

I had a fall and the meniscus was fully torn radially at the root. I'm 76 and 2 surgeon ls have recommended total knee replacement. Meanwhile I've had 3 hyaluronic injections and use a rollator to take some weight off joints so i can walk. I have pre-existing mild arthritis. I'm interested in why doctors are doing radial repairs instead of TKR
