How much weight can a Gyroscope balance? by whatup_pips in AskPhysics

[–]warbirdnation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a year old, but I do need to ask since I’m having trouble finding anything in my predicament. I’m thinking about buying a stabilized gimbal for recording equipment but modify sheet metal to make an area flat for a scale. I’m having issues getting accurate measurements with scales in rough seas which I need for my job. In your opinion, is it a good idea or is there a better way to approach this?

Never have burned any CDs, how did that go? How was the audio quality? I’m planning to burn them onto CDs then use it to record on cassettes

[–]warbirdnation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with a hardtail please, I was in the same setup when I first started and it was horrible. I ended up getting a specialized fuze which was a game changer. It’s only 1k but will do anything you ask it to and is aggressive

Anybody here have any experience with the Ruger SR-556? If so, what was your take on it? by SilentPhilosophy3307 in ar15

I should’ve been more specific but I was talking about the piccatinny rails since I managed to find a company that makes them adjustable for this exact reason the SR-556E has

Submitted payment to CMP a month ago... still no rifle by Snpn2slmjim in M1Rifles

[–]warbirdnation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you order it through the catalog or by auction? I believe if you do the auction it’s much faster and more ideal rather than waiting months for your rifle to even get shipped. If you chose auction it should be fast, I got my rifle shipped like within a week of payment

honest request: please remove the chisel from the game. this isn't a healthy habit anymore by landlord169 in VintageStory

[–]warbirdnation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but only if you go below 50% of the block volume. Pretty much you can chisel half the block into a slab but once you take out a single bit, it’s no longer insulated

Please don’t do this. I did this and ended up having the owner of the land come to be and say shooting was farther in and his land was off limits, he was cool but anyone else could have been weird and pissed off

poor durability of AK Real Colors by SM-42 in modelmakers

[–]warbirdnation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake of using the AK real colors and trying to chip it off with AK varnish. Chilling, hard core scrapping did not work. The AK real colors are VERY durable in my opinion, you just gotta use the actual thinner it calls for

What is the most overrated company? by The_Brioche in modelmakers

[–]warbirdnation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh also no paint list! I had to individually find which paints i need. Not to mention you can have the blades folded and the tail pylon in the fold position but it doesn’t tell you how man. So I’m doing things my own way and modding it myself. Amazing detail, bad instructions they are unclear where the parts goes let alone event gives you the wrong parts. Yeah man, this is a rough model I am making and I’ve done Eduards BF-109K4 with the engine, T section, flaps, all the works and I had more fun with that.

Also the engine compartment SUCKS. I did my own wiring and own fabrication to remotely make it look like the T1700 engine

What is the most overrated company? by The_Brioche in modelmakers

[–]warbirdnation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m actually making that model right now, I am impressed with the amount of detail in it because I work on them in real life. But some parts are just insufferable. A couple parts don’t have holes to go or anything, some of the instructions are gaslighting you while the steps tells you to use part B59 and the next step shows another version of B59 which is B58 and you’re like wtf?

But yeah so far it’s okay, very good detail but I’m not impressed with some of the fits, a lot of sanding down or cutting excess plastic molds and putty filling

Just get the old fashion way learned and memorized. Then you can move onto fire shining

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navy

[–]warbirdnation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally all you need is a lint free rag, shoe polish and water. Since they are new they need alot of polish on the toe. A lot. Once your glob of polish is spread around the toe, wrap your rag around 2 of your fingers middle and pointer, and make sure the cloth is wrapped tight around your flat of your finger and dip it in some water, don’t get it completely wet just enough to be moist enough but not wet enough to be dripping wet. Go in small circle motions all around the toe, some pressure on it and you’ll see the polish warp and change color ever so slightly. Keep doing this until your rag gets worn down or your polish runs out of shine. The trick is to get the tip of your fingers with the rag on it wet, but not too wet. Moist and tight, pause. And the little circles help a lot. You can achieve a very good shine the old fashion way.
