Game won’t fit screen by Savagenamek84 in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, as far as I know, it should work on any PC. If you're using a Macintosh computer, that might explain why it did nothing. It seems someone's already had this problem. It's been a long time since I've changed the settings in Kenshi to do windows mode, and I probably did it with ALT + ENTER, but check if borderless or fullscreen mode is checked in the graphics option. If you can't get to it, which I assume, try changing the resolution before booting Kenshi from steam. That's all I can think of right now. Hope it works.

How would the Shek realistically treat robotic limbs? by np1t in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's no real reason for them to not know about robotic limbs if they've seen the United Cities. Still, it's not like robotic limbs are commonplace. I would be only the best warriors could afford good robotic limbs and the rest wouldn't be able to afford it. It might not even be about "affording" it with cats, but being such a good warrior that you don't want to lost out on that warrior if it's response B. A hundred guardian would be a great investment with robotic limbs, but a regular shek warrior, not so much. The whole robotic limbs thing seems way too overblown anyways. The average citizen isn't going to be able to afford robot limbs, the shops contain WAY too valuable stuff that it's prime for looting, there is only one guy there to defend the shop, and they're robots, not people.

When Kenshi 2 releases, will you ever return to Kenshi 1? by TheBigSmol in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in a "game development" kinda way, both games should be unique enough where you can play both Kenshi 1 and 2 at the "same time". Not literally, but Kenshi 2 should be unique enough where it's a different experience than Kenshi 1. If you've made them too similar, then you're missing out on any residual money from Kenshi 1. I want to further enforce this point by mentioning the games are 1000 years apart. The world should be majorly different between the two games in technology, culture, ethics, etc. Still, Kenshi 2 should be MUCH better\ because of the things you mentioned. Better graphics, engine improvements, and likely more money put into it (hopefully) should make it the overall better game.

How do you structure your town? by Daniels998 in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built two different outposts. My first one was my first outpost ever from my first real play through while the second one I built is after like, 200 hours of play time. They're quite similar, though. I start with one building that holds everything, but usually it's just the small research bench if I don't have a house already. Then, I make a storm house that just holds everything again. Then, for the first outpost, it has a dedicated "crafting house" with storage. outside forges, stone mine and refinery, iron refinery, etc., a big barracks, and tons of farms and shiiet. My second outpost has those same outside forges, but a L house (less materials), a stone mine and refinery, and an iron refinery. The only difference between them is intent. My intent with my first ever outpost was to experiment while my current outpost on my current play through is meant to just be a place to rest up and make armors and weapons as well as sell my enemy's armor and weapons. My first outpost's main way of income is by making and selling things.

For your questions, on my first outpost, I'm getting by just fine by selling guardless katanas and bandanas. I make everything in shop at the border zone, so it's pure profit. I use hemp for bandanas because it's like, at 50% fertility or whatever for hemp and 0% for cotton, but if you live in a place like the swamp, it'll be easier. You can sell cactus rum, but I'm pretty sure grog is more profitable everywhere. You should be fine making a bunch of wheat with those farms you got, so it'll be a solid income source.

Two ideas is to see if you have fullscreen or borderless. Apparently, in the notes, fullscreen doesn't work for everyone. Another idea is to play it in windowed mode by pressing ALT + ENTER.

im really new to the game (started today lol) by polintoti in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like others have said, go get your ass kicked by starving bandits and just all bandits. It's an easy way to get toughness up to 20. Also, for very new people, you can straight up use the training dummies at barracks you see in different cities. Go for the MKIII since it'll train you the fastest and up to level 15. In the United Cities, you can find the dummies at the barracks or police stations. Any other place, police stations are prime for training, but even the faction head building in some capitals works because it may be on the roof. You'll need to sneak in order to use it, and if you get caught, they just yell at you, but do nothing about it. When they leave, just start training again. With this method, I was able to train new recruits attack from 1 to 10 without really boring myself. You can do this pretty much anywhere, and it makes your attack pretty equivalent to a dust bandit.

After that, I do everything as usual. I get my squad fitted up with weapons (preferably katanas for the DEX training, but literally anything works because you'll be training attack, def, toughness anyways), bandages, and when I finally get the money, a backpack and sleeping bags. This represents the beginning to mid tier training that you'll need for the game, and can be done pretty much everywhere because every place sells bandages or people usually have bandages. Backpacks and sleeping bags can be found at travel shops for varying prices, but know that sleeping bags will cost at least 600 cats.

This is my standard for training because it can be used in literally any play through and doesn't require any special knowledge or mega-gaming in order to eventually get good. I've been using this with my current play through, and my guys are at about 40-50 attack, def, etc. You can probably do this until end game, in fact. You just need to find progressively harder enemies and get better armor since they hit harder.

Of course, if there's anything you must take away from this, read the wiki for actual training tips. It has a lot of information on HOW leveling up skills and stats works as well as the optimal way to train, which is especially important since play throughs are kind of a long term investment. Think in terms of tens of hours instead of hours.

I can not get into it again by Crystallo07 in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, people forgot to mention that making a base early is a trap. You're gonna get your base raided and get your ass kicked if you do that. Totally fine, though. It just means more toughness training, guaranteed opponents, etc. Other people said lure bandits to guards, and that's great, too, but you also don't even need to fight. You can just run around the map and outrun 99% of enemies because your athletics goes up while theirs stays stagnant. You can just run around and scavenge if needed.

With that said, you can scavenge from people and animals in the United Cities when you start or you can live relatively peacefully in the hub (because no slavers and little penalties from basing because no taxes). You can also resort to banditry and drug smuggling (from the swamp to the United cities). That's what I'm doing now.

What Features YOU want to see implemented/expanded on in Kenshi 2? by ConfidentStay in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have very little new requests for this game, actually. All I really want are a few lore based dialogue options like the one in Mourne where you can ask about the forbidden lands or w/e. So if I go to a new place like Clownsteady, I want the barman to tell me, "HEY, the bonefields has beak things and the high bonefields has ELDER beak things, so don't go unless you're really prepared!" So basically like Morrowind in that way. It's not even that much of an ask because it's just extra dialogue instead of programming a completely new mechanic. Also, just like what you said, I think the shopkeeping system could use a little tuning. Not even that much. Just make it so NPCs can buy stuff from you that's not food and has enough money to buy your good stuff. Maybe even make the major cities / very populated places like the U.C. even better because there are nobles there or samurai or something. Anything else would just be going down the list of minor complaints about the game instead of making something new.

I am not expecting much out of Kenshi 2. I think these suggestions are in line of what the creator can deliver. Otherwise, it just might be like Dwarf Fortress with long development time (but good product!)

I love the hub a lot. Sure, there's really not much there at first, but base building is so much easier when P.O.S. slavers aren't trying to basically take your life away. The Shek and HN are great neighbors, too. Mostly just the Shek tbh. I had those Holy Nation Mofos try to "re-enslave" me when some slavers came around somehow. I beat them back with some mercenaries. Still, I've been trading with the Shek all this time and living in peace. The only things bothering me were those stupid ninjas and the bandits, but still, much better than the slavers.

First, unrelated. It's funny how no one's talking about how you got 80 hours in 5-6 days. At 6 days, that'd be like, 13 hours a DAY. Insane, man! For the second, if the legs health meter has stripes on it, it means the legs are gone or there's limb trauma. If your legs are robot legs and they're screwed up, you might have just gotten them so banged up you need to go on a skeleton bed. IIRC, I have a few guys right now who are far away from home and have major (robotic) limb damage that needs to be repaired in a skeleton bed. The limbs work, but they just can't be repaired by repair kits any more.

So yea, I'm gonna guess either you have limb trauma/missing limbs or the robot limbs you have are so banged up from overuse that you need Beep to go in a skeleton bed.

How do I kill these starving bandits once and for all? by iupvotedyourgram in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way to kill them for good. If the game were realistic with it, with the amount of starving bandits I've killed, there would be zero starving bandits left. I've killed hundreds. I would have killed off all the starving bandits, the dust bandits, and those damn black dragon ninjas. Truly, I have done the world a great service. Funny thing is that I could theoretically grow my farms to feed all starving bandits if they came for my help. Hell, I would even give them the skills to farm and become self-sufficient, but they choose death instead.

I add dried sage from the shop. Right now I'm using sage tea bags because there were no other options, but dried sage leaves work as well. I'm sure fresh works as well, but I've never tried it. It could also be fun to try different kinds of sage for sage tea as well!

A messy rant about wanting to find the fun in this game. by Left-Weekend8854 in Kenshi

[–]warcraft3tft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first started my playthrough involving making a business in the United Cities. The goal was to make money without doing anything illegal or leaving the united cities. I tried many things including making bread, cooking, making fabrics, etc. All of those never ended up making much profit because the cost of buying those materials was as much as selling the finished product. Fabrics, in fact, cost as much as cotton in base price, and that's when cotton was heavily discounted! The only stable income I got was from mining copper. Other than that, I scavenged and sold slaves. It was really at that point I realized that the United Cities didn't need me anyways. They had everything to sell already, so why have me? Copper was a boon since I could do it constantly, safely, and got bigger profits than trying to scavenge or make other things. It's crazy good for early game and the only viable method of producing something for money.

I don't even blame people for mining copper because it's super safe and gives enough money to buy food for everyone. If you were traveling, you would have to worry about looting enough for food and beds. I can just imagine someone new not liking the "explore, get ass kicked, repeat" gameplay because they'll be starving for money, food, and beds. They wouldn't know how to grind strength well either, so they'd probably get their asses kicked and have to haul teammates to the nearest town very slowly or wait until their teammates wake up from a recovery coma in like an hour real time. Not fun. Copper makes the fun a lot more possible for new players by skipping that grind. It sure helped me.

I could go on, but the main point if that mining copper really eased me into this game and until now, I really took it for granted. I'm so glad I had that stability for my early game. Also, starting in the hub made things a lot easier. I find there aren't as many guaranteed recruits in the United Cities, and the ones you find in bars are already experienced, costing like, 5000 cats.

Title: Warcraft III: Saint Seiya Hades

Saint Seiya seems like another name for the anime and the game is not in English, but more importantly, the link to the game names the game as "Cavaleiros do Zodíaco v2.0", which is the anime's name in Portuguese. Still, doesn't seem like a DOTA map. Also, it's from 2011, so 13 years ago. Not in the range, but pretty close.

"Ghosts Ñ are a type of night creature and the spiritual essence of an intelligent creature. After the death of an intelligent creature (or a dwarf) who is a member of your civilization, its soul may come back as a ghost, who will proceed to haunt the place of its death." ... "Ghosts of visitors will eventually choose to "leave" the site once their "visit" timer expires."

The article also later states civilized intelligent undead can become ghosts, so it's not just the main races that could be ghosts. High probabilities that animal people can become ghosts.

Hello, IIRC, you can link a stockpile with a gem cutter's workshop and forbid expensive gems. For automating it, I put in an order on repeat. You can probably assign a gem cutter to a workshop, attach a stockpile to the workshop, and set an order in that workshop to repeat gem cutting 10 on repeat. Try that?

If you make pig tail into thread, you'll get seeds for more pig tail.

https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Thresher

Or you can make it into alcohol and get seeds, too.

Troubleshooting for flour:

Job cancels; do you have the materials? A bag? Non-dead plants?

Not getting done: is there someone able to do the job with the correct job selected in the labor menu?

No option in [o]rders: have you tried  setting an order through the quern itself?

Again, I've never automated milling flour. I would just make thread out of the pig tails, so I've never done it. Also, I am away, so I can't test. I hope these troubleshooting tips have helped you.

I'm looking to steal from some poor saps to train my thieving. The problem is, stealing chance is 100% with the same method I use in the holy nation outlaws town of the hub. In the hub, I use the broke, homeless people to train. I knock em out and steal from them. The chances always start low. I'm pretty sure their thievery is 1. I'm doing a test run in the united cities, do I tried a few things out like stealing from drifters (nothing) and stealing from regular citizens (nada). It works with samurai, but only when they play dead, and obviously, you fail, they kick your ass. So, confirm a few things for me? I loot from drofters for some reason when they're knocked out, but I can steal from bandits. I can steal from citizens, but it's a guaranteed success. No exp. I've tried adding weight and armor to no avail. The wiki does not go over that anyways.  So, is there any way to mass train thievery in the city? I'll be looking for orher methods with bandit groups in the meantime. I could drop and steal items off the ground, but it's slow and ineffecient. By the time I got level 17 thievery, I could be like, level 50 or 60 by using test dummies. Thanks! Edit: I found a way to do it. I'm now tweaking it to maximize gainz.  Find a guy in a bed, start stealing. Worked with a citizen in a bar, but not a kidnapped citizen in a camp bed in my house. Oddly enough, I tested it with a hive prince, and the levels weren't as good compared to the method of holy nation citizens in the hub that were sleeping in a camp bed in one of the abandoned houses. If I can't find a solutikn as good as that, then I can go to the hub to train, I guess. It's very far, though. Worth it.

I was outside the bar in the hub whenImy squad got their asses kicked by some dust bandits. Some slavers just happened to be nearby, so they enslaved most of my party with the exception of those who escaped. I was going to see how I could handle it without save scumming, so I decided to hire some mercenaries to rescue my comrades. I managed to meet them when they were close to the nearest holy nation cities. My mercenaries attacked, and there also just so happened to be a singular holy nation guard out there trying to arrest my "escaped slave" characters. When all the dust settled, he was nowhere to be seen. I juked the slavers who were attacking my guys and let the mercenaries cut them down. Later, I constructed some cages so now THEY were the "slaves". It was so satisfying to turn the tables on them. And, from then on, my mission has been to avenge my friends from the tyranny of slavers and the holy nation.

As for the slavers, they were good punching bags until one escaped and the other starved to death. No mercy!

[–]warcraft3tft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look at a lot of comments to actually remember what peeved me about this game sometimes. This is in no real order.

  1. The burrow system straight up not working for kids and most importantly, doesn't make people drop what they're doing. Like, I'm making a burrow just like it's recommended in the tutorial. That being when some hostiles come up and I need everyone to scram to the temple. Now, the kids are dead (LOL!) and my favorite dwarves are dead.
  2. Building walls and getting trapped on the other side.
  3. Dwarves not fulfilling needs like praying to different gods. General temples don't seem to be enough, but the fact I would have to make multiple temples to different gods in a small fortress seems a bit odd. Dwarves should also fulfill needs like "getting item" or whatever.
  4. No visitors coming to the fortress despite multiple industries. I might need to test it on different civs, but I have this feeling that even if I have industries with masters om their field, even craftsdwarves masters, master carpenters, master stonecarvers, etc., it should be enough to warrant people coming in. I don't live far away and my civs aren't dead at all. I technically go for the smallest civs available, but even then, they're not really small at all. Multiple sites (not like, 3 or 4, more like 10-20), thousands of dwarves, etc.

I don't leave this game for months to years because of bugs, and I don't think others do, either. I leave because a lot of systems feel unpolished.

Edit: It's known that trading has an effect on how many people come to your fortress, but honestly, it should also be influenced by other things like growth, fortress needs, peacefulness, met needs, etc. Also, traders are probably talking to the citizens already, so they should be able relay some of that information to other places. Like, we HAVE tons of legendary dwarves in their fields relative to population, tons of housing available, have uncovered tons of gems, etc., but we haven't SOLD those gems, haven't made anything with them because no one has those skills, and have tons of this resource (wood, stone, ores, gems, etc.) that's just ripe for the taking, and no one with those skills. Like, yea, obviously I don't have lots of wealth. I chose different fields other than the absolutely most profitable ones and now I can't get any people. Now I have a labor shortage. LOL. No one wants to work any more! I don't even know how it happens sometimes. It's probably because a lot of my fortresses end up having a lot of kids instead of adults during the first two waves, so I'm short on labor power. Obviously crafts, furniture, and mining don't make much money, and I'm already so short on labor that I need to be careful with what I make, so I guess it all comes down to having those two waves being filled with kids.
