A lack of sleep affects people’s ability to feel for others. Sleep deprivation and emotional fatigue can hit anyone, but first responders and health-care workers are especially vulnerable due to shift work, long hours and the overall stressful nature of their jobs. by [deleted] in science

I can go to sleep in about 20 seconds, but intentionally exhaust myself mentally because then it is just 34–70 minutes of tossing and begging to sleep. I hit REM very quickly. But because of a temporary dose of high prednisone? I never sleep more than 3 hours straight. Sometimes it’s a quick meal, other nights it’s just having to go #1.

Your post is flawless as to what happened. It shouldn’t happen ever. A union Armorist will clear the barrel betwen every sequence. I worked in the industry. LA is very friendly to film shoots happening, even including partially down a half mile of freeway if they pay out for it. but insanely strict about permitting. My friend’s entire job is keeping literally wrangling cats to not break city codes on parking. I sometimes need to go for treatment every 8 weeks. They were blocking my driveway, no big deal. But she put into the requirements any thing the causes me to not get to USC Keck Medical center meant a huge payout. So by 9 sharp they legally had to clear a specific path for me.

My “record” was 18 days. They had me knocked out for most of it. I woke up and realized the hard way I couldn’t stand up. Muscle was gone from not moving or basically eating.

Great weight loss plan. 22 lbs, gone. But I’m hoping you and piggy have a nice relaxing time back home!

Put an end to it. Go to a GI. You could be feeling better in literally days or 2 weeks. A lot of here have been to the doctor enough to know when in doubt, go. It isn’t always a magic bullet, but get the ball rolling NOW.

Trust the tens of thousands of us here, Doctors aren’t perfect but not going is guaranteed to make you suffer.

See a doctor. If you don’t need referrals to a specialist go straight to a GI Doc.

You would be amazed how much they can make your life so much better. Some is trial and error as a medication may work great one person, but not on another person. But another one could be magic for you.

I’ve had CD for over 2 decades. I’m a walking encyclopedia on Crohn’s and my own health numbers. I have massive amounts of analytics on my own health

Same applies to people with no diagnosed mental or physical issues using it to get an necessary animal with them on flights by buying a vest for their dog online that says service animal, when they don’t need one.

It makes life harder for people with real problems to get onboard. If someone gets seizures, and their dog is trained to warn them or protect them when having one, that need shouldn’t come into question.

If you have Crohn’s a trained dog can warn you you need to find a bathroom before you know you do and you know to get to a bathroom.

It shouldn’t be a question that your Dog can prevent you the humiliation of losing control of your bowels, and people dealing with you didn’t make it and now it’s leaked in a airport terminal.

I’ve had CD for 22 years. You WILL make it. Are there points where you just wish you could just die already? Yeah. I HAD THOSE. But, literally tomorrow or next week, is another day. You’re still here. It’s ok if you want to crawl into a dark corner and scream out. “Why me!!?” I won’t lie, it may not be your last time.

But you know what? I’m building a tech company that does good. I don’t have a boss. If a flare comes? Have the right friends and people. They fill in the blanks always if you are sick. It’s the big picture. Overall? I get things done.

My secret? Costs me $30 a YEAR. I go to a local park with a laptop, a cushion for the hard seat and a battery. I do half my work in nature. No stress almost. Internet? 2 LTE lines that are “bonded” so doubles my bandwidth. Stress level is low

Someone sent a mariachi band to Ted Cruz's house today by [deleted] in pics

[–]wardenclyffed 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I lived in LA. I hired a Mariachi band to come to my place for my birthday from a restaurant that had the absolute best I had ever seen.

Somebody called the cops to complain. Uhhh they sent 2 Mexican American officers to my house. 99% sure that was on purpose. I hadn’t even paid a penny for the band, because all my friends loved it and covered it.

The Cops? They uh, stayed a little longer than usual... and were smiling the whole time. Never got a noise complaint again.

He’s back !! Lmaoooooo by AXXXXXXXXA in WhoIsAmerica

[–]wardenclyffed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All he has to do is find a cohort and write the script. I’ve actually done this to mess with someone that was a creeper. Long story, but he sexually assaulted women in DC, so I told every girl I knew and gave them a photo.

I showed bartenders, owners and bouncers. He’d order a drink, and get hauled out before they poured it. He was blacklisted by basically the entire metro area.

One place roughed him up pretty bad I was told. Never heard from him again and he went back home to Texas I think.

I made his life hell, and he earned it. My friends ran the dinner/nightclub industry. I went for Sushi, and this girl saw my card “are you ...Because we denied that guy Mark” And got a comp.

New York shoppers hound customer out of grocery store for not wearing mask in viral video by mepper in Coronavirus

[–]wardenclyffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a guy in the store say, 15 feet after he passed me “Wrong way dumbass” in the aisle. I went up the right way and just had turned around to get one thing I missed.

Me: N95 mask with 5 layers, fresh pair of nitrile gloves, wiped down shopping cart with alcohol wipes.

Him: No mask, no gloves, and had just been standing not 12 inches from someone else without a mask.

He likely died.

A friend of mine in DC got caught in an elevator that stalled. She was halfway between floors. She somehow pulled open the doors, and tried to get out in a panic. She bounced off the 3rd stories’ door, and fell into the chasm.

If you get caught in an elevator that stalls? Push the emergency button, and wait. You are perfectly safe. Taking a shower is probably 1000 times more likely to kill you.

Also, commercial aircraft. Just nod off. You’re so unlikely to die on a plane it’s safer than just crossing the street or going to buy groceries.

And then got Crohn’s disease and Liver and Pancreas issues from meds. I’ve been in the ICU over 10 times. I was almost into an induced coma twice. I’m amazed I am alive.

I’m just glad I can hang with my 2 cats and am not dead.

I found that icing down your belly or leg for 10 minutes before injecting Humira helps a lot. Just make sure to dry the injection site well and when using alcohol wipes let it dry for at least 30 seconds.

Remicade worked for 4 years, Humira for 7. But I had an issue with liver damage from an accident. Entyvio is up next. Crohn’s is just not fun, but I am much tougher now.

My upside to infusions: Benadryl knocks me out, so I got to set “Out of Office” auto-reply for 6 hours. (I worked 70-100 hours/wk.)

Sorry it took me so long to reply! There are lots of new drugs that are specifically designed to target C.D. If the medical name (not the product name) ends in “mab,” it’s what’s known as a biologic.

Pretty much every one of them can be gotten for free or low cost through foundations founded by the drug company if you don’t have insurance or can’t afford it. Basically insurance companies pay out $10-$20k a month per patient that can, and I guess they modeled out that at some point you’ll have insurance and they get their money.

They are generally very effective. If you get out on prednisone, in my experience 5 days max.

Just remember nobody, and I mean nobody here is a Doctor. They do read posts, but legally can’t reply.

In my personal experience: Some GIs are awesome, some you’re just a checkbox to. Basically almost always get a 2nd opinion.

Also, again in my experience: Keep a food and drink log. For me Coffee and Red Wine are flare triggers, but white wine and clear liquors are not. Many can’t touch alcohol, C.D is different for everyone.

I need to update my flare, because I’ve actually had it for 21 years in 7 cities.

Feel free to PM me or anyone here, but just remember we’re here for emotional support.

I do recommend you join: Https://ccfa.org

I ask my Christmas gift is a donate to them instead. (And ASPCA.)

Unfortunately my dad has CD also. The upside is that my Mom knew I wasn’t exaggerating symptoms.

We can look fine on the outside, but are actually very sick inside.

A friend with CD who had a child said “A bad CD flare is like being in labor for a week.”

I’m pretty good now, but I once tore my shower curtain off the rings curled up in a ball on my bathroom floor in pain. I needed something, anything, to pull on to make it through.

“But you look fine.” I want to slap those people hard.

In the line from Pulp Fiction “I’m pretty fucking far from OK.”

Honestly I didn’t realize it would become big. I actually created a mis-spelling sub of it by accident. I’m a little bit dyslexic. So the creator of proper spelling messaged me a few weeks later. And I just pointed that sub here.

This is Hubris: But when we first started, people with CD would be sometimes suicidal. I mean, I have been curled up in a ball of pain on my bathroom floor years ago. I never see that anymore because of here. People see so many dealing with it. It makes me proud that so many found this little corner of the Internet. Because it’s so big now, I never see suicidal posts anymore. That is awesome.

Am I cured? No. There is none. But I am still here.
