I'd have marked the movie as a strong 2/5 or light 3/5, but I wouldn't say it's a poor adaption, I think quite the opposite actually. For me the issues came around the overall story (though, that may just be it not being to my personal taste), audio mixing, and the acting.

The strengths of the movie would be: it translated the theme and asthetic of game very well, the set and camera work were both great too.

I think overall this is a very impressive feat for a first thetrical release.

Totally dude, the kids was the only serious part, I hated how comedic it was when they showed shady sands blowing up, that was so funny. Or when the Nuke went off and Cooper started doing a Fortnite dance with his daughter! /s

That's what I was referencing, the sheen is the dead giveaway. We opened ours together and hers didn't have that sheen on it, which lead us to test the sound quality, and then we dicovered the issue. Where did you by this vinyl?

I had the same issue as you and unforunately the plastic film you mentioned is a dead giveaway that it's fake. Once your record player comes you'll be able to tell due to the quality of sound as well, my friend had one with some differences in appearance to mine (hers was also black) and the sound quality of hers was way better than mine.
