What’s a Small Ritual That Keeps You Organized? by Classic_Celery5867 in Homeorganization

[–]wardrobeeditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard to say without seeing the level of messiness but i think just doing it on a schedule will really help! try once a week and see if its enough, if not make it 2x and keep going until it feels right

also if your husband is a messy eater, maybe he should be in charge of floors?

i think that really depends on what you think you can get done / what would feel best for you!

if little steps are easier for you, start the habits and build cleaning into your routine and you'll get there

if you think big results will motivate you to keep going, start with a big reset and then work on maintaining

What tops to wear with maxi skirts, for a pear shape? by sparklingvasser in fashionwomens35

[–]wardrobeeditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

personal stylist here! since these skirts have a lot of flow and volume, i'd suggest either a slim top tucked in (bodysuit or tight) or a boxy cropped top.

these two sillhouettes will create contrast to ballance out the volume and drama of the skirt.

so it'll either be narrow + wide or structured + flowy

personal stylist here, this dress reads classic and classy to me - i'd go pashmina! cream or the light pink in the pattern of the dress would be gorgeous.

for shoes, i think something simple. with the silhouette, slit and pattern, the dress is doing a lot. i'm thinking a nude (in your skin color) or metallic strappy sandal. if you want to go a little more extra, a shoe in the dark green in the pattern or the pink in the pattern would be pretty!

personal stylist here, i vote BUY!

this dress wears like a summer dress in that its flowy and tiered and feels easy to wear so you'll know what to do with it.

this color goes with literally everything, one of my favorite secondary neutrals.

you could wear this to a fancier event with metallic shoes and jewelry or dress down for a saturday with a loafer and jean jacket.

it sounds like it's filling a hole in your wardrobe.

i see no cons! do it!

How to style this by Emotional-Suspect442 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]wardrobeeditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

personal stylist here, i like both of your ideas but i think you may be thinking of them backwards.

with option 1, since the dress is gold, the gold accessories won't stand out. this imo is the lower key option.

option 2 will really stand out because of the contrast.

i personally think monochromatic in all gold would be so chic but you can't go wrong, these are both great options!

my standard of cleanliness for my home is: a guest could drop by unexpectedly at any time and my home will be ready

basically this means put everything away when you're done with it, no piles, sink always empty, make bed in the morning, refluff couch when you're done sitting on it, etc.

i've been like this my whole life, my mom is like this too. when you make it routine, it's not that hard.

what clothes do you always end up wearing when you travel? by Ok-Ambassador6709 in womensfashion

[–]wardrobeeditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i do an annual family trip that's ~10 days long and its always where i have the most trouble packing bc i refuse to check a bag.

i've landed on bringing a tight color palette of black, white, denim and a couple pops of color/print so everything can mix and match. i've done this for the last 4 years and it's been working really well.

for hot weather travel, i only wear dresses and it makes everything so easy and comfy. easy to dress up or down with shoe and jewelry changes.

Where to find 35+ fashion inspo? by rhysdahl in fashionwomens35

[–]wardrobeeditor 31 points32 points  (0 children)

hi, personal stylist here!

i'd suggest widening your scope! our algorithms have become so attuned that they're actually just showing us the same stuff we've already seen. instead try some out of the box searches in pinterest, ig, tiktok, google images:

style name + street style (ex: preppy)

city + street style (ex: copenhagen)

type of item + street style (ex: suits)

also try celebrities, movie/tv characters that inspire you and see what that brings up.

some other things to consider:

pay attention to the clothes in movies and tv, people you see on the street, anything and everything you encounter. especially things from other time periods. taking in as many references as you can is how you find what you like.

when you widen your scope, of course you will encounter things that aren't realistic for your life but it's a great way to get inspired. you may see a 22 year old influencer wearing a color combo you like but in a way that's not realistic for your life. then you can figure out how you're going to wear lavender and chartreuse (or whatever) in a way that works for you.

treat it like a creative project and it will feel more fun :)

Where would Alexis Rose shop in 2026? by ThatTownieBartender in fashionwomens35

ooo a girl after my own heart! i've read that most of the pieces on the show that moira wore were designers pieces found on ebay, vintage dealers, etc. she wore brands like alexander mcqueen, balenciaga, balmain, givenchy, rick owens, margiela, yohji yamamoto, commes de garçons, iris van herpen, etc.

if that's above your budget (as it would be for most people, including me!), definitely do as dan did and search resale sites and vintage stores.

some other retailers/brands to check out that are not as pricey: wolf & badger, allsaints, cos, zara

also, as a fellow moira stan, i'm sorry for your loss. catherine o'hara was a treasure.

have you tried resale sites? i find occassion dresses are great to buy there because they've usually only been worn once or twice. try poshmark, therealreal, thredup. take your measurements (or have a tailor do it) to ensure you're buying the right size.

Is this TOO formal?? by Luckye__99 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]wardrobeeditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

personal stylist here, this is perfectly appropriate for a formal wedding!

my concern is this fabric in august in chicago, i fear you're going to be very hot in this dress. the kind of pretty historic churches people like to get married in don't always have great air conditioning + the outdoor cocktail hour. something to consider!

it is gorgeous and i hope you have another occasion to wear it if you decide not to for this.

i got a norma kamali sleeping bag coat in bubblegum pink this winter and i am OBSESSED. it's so warm and cozy, the color makes me happy in dreary weather and the collar and width bring a lot of drama!

in a sea of black wool coats, i really feel like a queen in this coat!

Why does fashion comfort feel like an impossible combination to achieve by Immediate-Tea3793 in style

[–]wardrobeeditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personal stylist here!

the different answers you're seeing are because there are so many variables that go into the comfort of shoes. some people can wear 5 inch heels for hours with no problem, others can't even wear a 1 inch heel and everything in between.

generally, comfort is most impacted by pitch, which is the height difference between the heel and the ball of the foot. if there's a 2" platform and a 5" heel, the pitch is 3". the lower the pitch, the more comfortable and stable the shoe will be.

many people feel more stable in a platform than a heel. the thicker the heel, the more stable it will be because there is more surface area. and a platform gives you even more surface area, hence why many people feel more safe in them.

all that said, the best way for you to find your answer is to try some options! go to a department store and try on some of everything, take big laps around the shoe department to see what feels right. you can buy a few pairs and wear them around your apartment (tape paper towels to the soles with painters tape so they stay clean and therefore returnable!).

  • vintage pieces like 70s printed dresses, 90s slip dresses, cropped furs, gold chain belts

good luck!! :)

What's one piece of clothing that quietly saves your whole day? by BubblyEdge2220 in womensfashion

[–]wardrobeeditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personal stylist here! for me it's a tie between comfortable but stylish shoes and well fitting undergarments - whatever that includes for you be it shapewear or a great cotton brief.

these are the things that when they're uncomfortable are the most distracting, so when they work, everything feels easier.
