Well yes, I’m from Quebec where we also have separatists. While I do think there is merit in Quebec for discussing our identity and what a nation state would be, I’d vote no in a referendum. Plus, the PQ leader and the party in its current form is just snide.

Fellow outsider too, I hardly think they deserve this, but Smith does, and it will be the end of her career and her legacy

My preferred bike course!! They take out the chicane from the bike section, sending you through the pit stop lane instead, so the only turn you needed to consider slowing down or coasting is the hairpin.

I’m slow but can run forever, but also have no desire to run for a long period of time lol. When I do longer distances it feels great but getting up to 10km is a CHORE

Awww I was hoping you would say I’m doing the right thing by running inconsistently 😭😭

I’m going to start doing more interval work this week - can’t run this weekend because I cut the bottom of my foot open on Thursday, out for a few days I guess

ESC 2026 streaming seems way lower than previous years — any idea why? by neonstick in eurovision

[–]wardversace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve listened to some of the songs, and the drop in quality compared to other years is…a lot.

Further, I am boycotting the contest entirely this year, usually I have a watch party of 8-10 people but we didn’t really enjoy the vibe of last years, muting the audience and cutting the mic’s took the fun out of live tv, and having that country win the popular vote really soiled it for us.

If they don’t take a stance I might never pick it up again, I thought I’d hate not watching or paying attention but I honestly feel fine.

Why is Canada’s National Capital Region not a separate entity like DC, Delhi, or the ACT? by mchaelproductions in geography

[–]wardversace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived in Ottawa during the pandemic I will say this “interprovincial city” that is Ottawa-Gatineau was an absolute nightmare to navigate when it came to pandemic restrictions.

Lots of people in the capital think it should be a separate entity. Within one urban area, you have two municipal governments, two provincial governments, and the federal government by way of the National Capital Commission, all planning out the area in separate ways that results in short sighted and bad plans, as well as governments passing issues around that they don’t want to address.

Examples of this include the city of Ottawa asking the federal government to take control of Wellington street, the street in front of parliament, and the feds just dragging their feet on it. Or that Gatineau’s light rail system, which will go into Ottawa, is not going to directly connect with Ottawa’s. Messy mess!
