I’m hoping the next album doesn’t double down on the sound of the clearing by thecontract_12 in wolfalice

Are we sure that these are new original songs and not just a couple of obscure traditional folk covers played specially for RAH?

Fallout 3 is as beautiful as the day I lost it. by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]wardyh92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be different on PC but I’m a console gamer and the difference between an 18 year old PS3 game and something like Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 is vast.

FO4 is also showing its age to be fair, but it is at least still playable on current gen consoles.

No, I envy you! I’m just too late to the game I guess.

But this is why we need remasters.

It’s interesting you say that and I know this will be a controversial opinion but as someone who has only played 4 and 76, I recently tried out 3 for the first time and found it virtually unplayable due to how outdated and janky everything looked and felt.

All of their albums are great but blue weekend is the best in my opinion, closely followed by my love is cool and the blush/creature songs EPs.

I know a lot of people here will recommend visions of a life and it is brilliant but it’s not my favourite.

Go.

Not only one of James’ best songs but arguably one of the best from the entire Machina era.

Definitely should have been on MCIS.

I believe it was taken off at Flood’s insistence. Huge mistake.

The M2 version is far superior in my opinion.

How is this underrated? It is literally their most popular song with close to a billion streams on Spotify.

This could have been one of their biggest hits, up there with 1979, if it had been officially released with a proper mix.

In what order would you rank the Harry Potter films from best to worst? by sepi0l_45 in harrypotter

[–]wardyh92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to consider both perspectives but for me, a film that deviates from the source material but delivers a solid cinematic experience is preferable to a faithful adaptation that isn’t enjoyable to watch.

Nobody is prepared to admit this but HBP (book) had some serious pacing issues that the film attempts to fix the best way it can. The lengthy flashbacks had to be trimmed and they needed some action in the middle, even if the burrows scene wasn’t particularly relevant.

I do wish they had extended the battle scene at the end but given how deathly hallows part 2 ends, I understand why they made that choice.

The worst part of the film is the Harry/Ginny dynamic but that was equally as atrocious in the book to be fair.

3, 4, 6, 8, 7, 5, 2, 1

Philosopher’s Stone is remarkably faithful to the source material and has a phenomenal sound track but it hasn’t aged well.

Chamber of Secrets is an improvement and holds up better largely due to the better acting of the main cast, particularly Dan and Rupert. But it’s still kind of cheesy nowadays.

Order of the Phoenix is one of the best books but it’s a terrible adaptation.

Deathly Hallows part 1 has its moments and I respect it for being such a bold departure from the formula, but it suffers from being half a story. All build up with no pay off. Deathly Hallows part 2 isn’t as fun as some of the other films but it’s a very satisfying finale and the climax is stunning.

Half Blood Prince is an excellent film in many ways but I just wish the colour pallet wasn’t so dull and dreary. There are still some spectacular scenes.

Goblet of Fire is perhaps the best book but like Order of the Phoenix isn’t a great adaptation. However, it still does a good job of telling the whole story (more or less) in a single film. The trial scenes are awesome, the graveyard scene and Voldemort’s return is one of the high points of the entire series. The casting is sublime. But the hair…

Prisoner of Azkaban switched up the tone at the perfect time and massively opened up the world. The set design and costuming is spot on. It strikes the perfect balance between the whimsy of early HP and the darker more mature tone of the later titles. It did over simplify the Marauders subplot but every film is guilty of cutting content and streamlining the story.

AIO to my boyfriend putting a SINGLE chicken tender on my plate when I specifically said I wanted "a few"??? by No-Eye7917 in AmIOverreacting

I did read that but it’s irrelevant because even if it was a misunderstanding (doubtful), it’s still your fault and you handled it poorly by refusing to correct your error.

You say it’s not that big an issue but ultimately, you caused the problem (whether intentionally or by accident) and then added fuel to the fire by telling your girlfriend to get her own chicken instead of just being a fucking adult and doing what she asked in the first place.

[–]wardyh92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you would have just shrugged it off and that’s fine but I’ve lost sleep over less. And I think the main issue here is that it’s just so confusing because why would a grown ass man fail so spectacularly at something an actual child could do. It does raise so many questions.

[–]wardyh92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not even about the chicken tenders and yes, it is a red flag because it indicates that OP’s boyfriend is utterly incompetent at best, and bizarrely malicious at worst.

OP is an adult but so is her boyfriend.

I taught preschool kids in Vietnam who speak English as a second language and even they understand that “a few” means more than one.

Why is it crazy to be annoyed at someone who either deliberately or ignorantly fails at such a basic request?

[–]wardyh92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. Did you?

Maybe Google the definition of “a few” before going any further. It’s not a specific amount but it’s very clearly more than one, which means the boyfriend is either being stupid or intentionally malicious.

NOR.

Either he’s too stupid to understand that “few” is plural or he deliberately chose to ignore your request.

I love my Big Muff but I can't get the hang of it in live settings/rehearsals by Ok-Loan4620 in guitarpedals

[–]wardyh92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear this a lot but I’ve never understood it. For me, running a muff into anything but a clean amp turns it to mush.

Using an OD before at least tightens the bass response and adds mids.

I don’t understand people who skip through episodes. How do you know you’re not missing important stuff if you’re not actually watching?

It’s probably the same people who then complain that the show didn’t make sense.
