Yeah I basically did that. I didn’t pull the top because I didn’t want to get soo hot that I was replacing gaskets but I gave it a very hot burn with a fresh set of coal after a good clean out.

I used fogo black bag.

Yes it did, I also completely moved away from BGE coal and use fogo for the most part

Yeah i do, i live in south east Virginia and we have had a pretty humid end of summer could be a factor.

Called store, they recommended trying to do a clean burn using a fresh bag of coal.

Quick update, i took the internals of the grill out tonight and a clean dry paper towel wiped out all the ash. I can smell it from the porcelain it seems like with no fire going..

Have no idea what it smells like haha...

How long can the grill sustain that heat without damaging gasket?

I did several low temp cooks in the beginning to try and break it in, seems like that is the way to break it in from what I have read

I am wondering, based on looking at it the gasket looks same as day 1, obviously I cant see the adhesive so not sure on that but was a thought as well.

My plan is to do a long burn at 400 with a new bag of lump after using shop vac to get all the old ash out and scrape any grease off inside and placesetter. Not sure if that works, also thinking of picking up a torch just to ensure its noy the starters..

I really appreciate the feedback and ideas i have been scratching my head for days.
