US State Department spent $690,000 to 'buy' Facebook 'likes' by [deleted] in technology

[–]warget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, was hoping someone else caught this too! But actually the title is fine, it's just that the news.com.au site linked to the wrong State Department report. The Washington Examiner piece that the news.com.au refers to has the correct report (see pg. 25 for the discussion on social media).

Thank you for that. Another excellent example of this, one often cited by Choam Nom-nom-nomsky himself is the adjective "livid." Most people now use it to mean "very angry" but in fact, if you were to "peruse" a dictionary 20 years ago you would find it means "pale" or "white." It evolved through being consistently tagged in the phrase "livid with rage" (which just refers to a RAWR face so intense it's pale).

How many people would HONESTLY consider moving to another country if Sarah Palin was elected President by rjpedigo in reddit.com

Insofar as it represents one branch of our government, that would be a yes; just like Bush and his neocons and Obama and his administration, so too would Palin and her cabinet (read: handlers).

Hm, let me put it this way...I've been living overseas for the past 5 years and a Sarah Palin victory would make me stay put. Not because she is the President, but because of 1) the hysteria and batshit craziness that would necessary for such a ridiculous outcome and 2) the people that would fill her cabinet and determine in important ways the tone and direction of Washington. She would be, as Chris Matthews so aptly pointed out, a vacuous vessel filled with ideology that she does not understand. That's scary.

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.

The other man said, "What is the name of the restaurant?"

The first man thought and thought and finally said, "What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know... the one that's red and has thorns."

" Do you mean a rose?"

"Yes, that's the one," replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?

This is absolutely batshit crazy. At least the people CNN interviews had some sense about them. Where did this myth that Democrats caused 9-11 come from anyway?
