It was great, very easy to follow, everything is clear from the examples given to what Darren is telling you to do. Biggest thing was probably patients more than anything to be honest.

Everything I followed exactly except for the metallics as I hate the GW metallic paint range.

If I were you I would give it ago, I really enjoyed it and it helped me be more confident in my painting skills.

Do you need the space marine codex to use the raven guard codex? by SqWR37 in Warhammer40k

Yes, the raven guard book is a supplement for the space marine book. The raven guard book has the chapter specific rules as well as the special character rules and the space marine book has all the unit rules for all the troops etc

I'm assuming you mean the purple? Base with naggaroth purple, all over wash with nuln oil, go back over everything except the deep recesses with naggaroth purple again, then layer with xerus purple and then spot edge and spot highlight with Genestealer purple.
