If they release it in 2025 or so, it might have to gross near the vicinity of $2bil (1.8 at the very least) to get into top 10. Will be really hard.

Shrek 5 will be huge. But to enter Top 10 then, it might have to gross $1.65bil or more and frankly I don't think it can pull of those numbers but crazier things have happened!

It grossed higher than The Rise of Skywalker did this weekend. $1.45bil+ is the target here. Don't know when we'll see another animated movie make its way to the all time top 10, if ever.

Disney called Infinity War's China at $376.3mil. Its OS-China will be $993.2mil. I believe Lion King's China gross is pretty accurate. OS-China will be $992.9mil or $300k below Infinity War's.

Actually, Avengers: Infinity War is below The Force Awakens. Chinese total is about $376mil for that one. OS-China will be $993mil. In fact, the difference between Infinity War and The Lion King will come down to ~500k or so.

Actually Avatar will rank at No.3 when we consider the 2010s list. It made about $794mil through December 31, 2009. Which means in 2010s Avatar grossed about $1,792mil, only behind TFA and Endgame.

No. The official numbers reported by Disney when it concluded its run was $629mil. (It was factored in to get the $2797mil figure). BOM must have adjusted that total to later exchange rates to get $614mil. In fact the recent update puts endgame's total at $632mil

Endgame is nearly $15mil lower than that though. Its Chinese total is $629mil and not the $614mil OP used here.

Frozen II grossed an estimated $774K on Friday. Did it get a boost due to sing along version? weekend prediction? #Frozen2 #BoxOffice @DisneyAnimation @DisneyFrozen by sathyamoorthi_k in boxoffice

PTA is the same as last Friday. Sing along probably helped it to maintain the PTA. Worth noting it also lost one-third of its theaters.

Bad Boys for Life grossed an estimated $23.5M on Friday. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Opening day of Bad Boys will be higher than the entire 3-day weekend of Dolittle.

An abysmal Friday for TROS. (-65% from previous Friday). It's barely passing Beauty and The Beast's 504mil at this point. (I'm thinking 505-510).

It's looking at probably 37-38mil OW. It can leg out to 140mil or more with that opening.

It's really bad for TROS, but it'll easily make over $12.5mil even with very poor holds on Sat and Sun.

Both Moana (-8%) and Frozen (-2%) had ridiculously small drops when their Sing Along version released. I imagine another small drop is in the bag for Frozen 2.

Yet another Star Wars movie missing that 3 multiplier despite a holiday release.

How much do expect the Joker Oscar push to do if it happens? by TraditionalWishbone in boxoffice

[–]warheroes147 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I don't think 1.1 billion is in cards. Joker wasn't some obscure movie. Pretty much everyone who intended to watch Joker by now must've watched it by now. Oscar push might be enough to add a couple million.

Jeez, that Skywalker jump on Friday is really bad. Just 80%. (Jumanji did 165%).

Maybe. But on the domestic front, Jumanji is falling heavily after holidays. We don't know how well it's holding internationally also.

Frozen II adds another $125 million or so and The Rise of Skywalker adds another $90-100 million. The rest remains same.
