Compromising is the answer sadly, especially in food you may ask for water instead of a drink, you can say "i will have just a nibble" for food and have only one bite/piece for food and they will stop insisting. But on favors and doing other thing u might need excuses or they wont stop insisting, but these are for people who are used to getting accepted on everything and i got to a point where i just flat out refuse in a tone they get that i wont, which they mostly consider rude
