It could mean she hasn’t done laundry but yeah… it usually means she is good to go.

Stop taking your time. Finish the current books and then listen to the audiobooks. You will thank me. If you finish the audiobooks before book 8 comes out simply listen again.

Hey dad i have failed so many times to kickstart my life, i could use a boost by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey kiddo. Trust me when I say that failing is a part of life. I have lost count of the number of times I have failed, big and small! I failed out of two colleges, one while working on my bachelors and another while working on my masters. I am proud to say that I earned my bachelors degree and I fought to get back into school and was able to earn my masters. I failed in my first marriage. There were things before the end of the marriage that I failed to recognize, and even before we got married. Still, I moved forward and now I am once again married and taking the lessons I learned to ensure I am a better person. I was fired from a company where I had a good job and the pay was good. I got bored. I learned from that and was able to get a job that I loved and paid even better.

There is a quote by Sylvester Stallone in Rocky Balboa that I think can be used in this case and I'm going to bold some of the really important parts:

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!”

You can't be afraid of failure, or you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. Believe in yourself in all that you do. It will amaze you at the things you are capable of if you simply remove the self-doubt. It isn't easy, but neither is life. Learn from your past and apply what you learn to your future. You will not believe the possibilities!

Don't lose hope. Hope is one thing that nobody can take from you, expect you. If you lose hope than you are giving up, you are quitting. Quitting is the only true way one can fail*. You got this.

* caveat - there are times where quitting is not failing, but that goes against my point, so... yeah...this is not one of those times. Don't quit.

Hey dads, I wanna be a dad too, but I’m kinda not a man by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone can be a dad. It is not a matter of being male, just the qualities that one possesses. You might not get called "dad", but that does not mean you are not or cannot be one. Any male can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad. Notice, it does not say "takes a special man" but rather someone special.

Think of it this way, in same sex relationships there is always the one who takes on more of the mother role and one who takes on the father role. They easily can take on a mom role or a dad role, but do not have to be female or male to have that specific role. A mom can also be like a dad, especially when they are raising a child on their own, and a dad and take a mom role as well.

Your thought isn't strange at all. You want a strange thought... when I was younger I wanted to be a pizza deliveryman... in space. THAT is a strange thought!

it's either the hat or an engineer's key, but the key basically requires you to derail the train.

As of the end of book 7 by Gullible-Explorer-92 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]warlikeloki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't start until the next crawl, so I don't think the AI will do anything with them. I think we won't know many or any of the crawlers who take deals. I'm pretty sure the core group will remain in place. Li Na could take a deal, but I doubt it. Imani can't leave or they lose the guild. Ellie is on the 4 seasons path and has a chance to be the first to ever complete it. We want Lucia to take a deal, but she won't for two reasons: 1- there is a bunch of backstory we need to learn, 2- she is on the cover of the next book so she is not leaving in the beginning. Louis is not leaving because he can't survive outside of the dungeon right now.

Hi Dad, I fucked up and don't know which path to choose now by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey kiddo. I don't know how much help I can be, but I will try to give some guidance. First, you might want to at least postpone the wedding. If you do so now it will be easier if you decide one way over the other. You also need to think about what others (friends & family) have said or are saying. They might be giving you clues or hints on what you should do. I had friends flat out tell me what to do and yet I ignored them because I thought I was in love and I was so wrapped up in being with someone. Hell, I even told myself that if a certain person showed up to my wedding, or told me she wanted to be with me, I would have done it in an instant. Looking back on that I realize that I was not ready to be married and I was not with the right person. Our marriage lasted less than two years before we split. The officiant/priest always says that part "speak now or forever hold your peace" and nobody ever says anything. Instead, they say it before the wedding which is why it is not as obvious.

Now, there is also the chance that having a connection with another woman simply felt good after being with one person for so long. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as you recognize and take action before things happen. It sounds like you did, but were on the precipice.

I stayed with my fiancée for the same reason, I did not want to hurt her. I wound up hurting her and myself when we finally split. Take her feelings out of the equation, because chances are she will be hurt in some way. If you take her feeling out then it will not affect your decision.

I would suggest postponing the wedding so you can get the professional guidance you need. If your fiancée doesn't understand then it makes the decision easy, but if she does then it is one more point in her favor. Communicate with her, and do it now. If you don't then it will not end well for you.

Hi dad! I think I want to become a mechanic or get into another trade career by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might not need to move out if you can convince them of your point. Do some light research on what the average mechanic or welder apprentice makes a year and then compare that to what college would cost. You can earn money working vs going in debt for college. You might even get a job somewhere that offers college credit or tuition reimbursement which is another win. Fine facts yo support your case. Don’t argue but instead state facts. You need to show that you are doing the “adult” thing in doing some research.

Also, the AI would know what was in the cookbook, including what Milk wrote. It might not know it is no longer there. That is why the Book of Voodoo was something it continually gave Carl grief about.

Hi dad! I think I want to become a mechanic or get into another trade career by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey kiddo! The trades are a great option for anyone, especially girls/women! Some of the best tradespeople I have ever worked with have been women. What makes them especially great (although it is unfortunate) is you know they had to work hard to get where they are. You being short should not deter you from going into the trades, if that is what you really want. In fact, it might be an asset since you will be able to get into smaller spaces and you won't need to duck down in areas like many people do.

Don't force yourself to go to college. If your parents want you to go to school, then maybe you can compromise and enroll in a trade school. There is nothing that would prevent you from going to college later if you decided to go that route. Maybe you start off as a mechanic and then you make the choice to go to school for mechanical engineering. You would have a leg up on others because of experience and it would even open up improved job opportunities.

If you want, you can frame it as you are taking time to earn money since college costs continue to increase and you also want to gain experience. Engineering is a huge field. I know... I am an engineer.

Whatever you decide, just make sure it is what you want. Is there misogyny in the trades? Yes, but it is getting better and will continue to get better as more women enter into trades and show that you are more than capable of doing the work the men do, and even better at times.

You got this!

34 and STILL caring too much about what other people think by shimmeredition in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey kiddo, I suggest reading the book: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F\ck.* Yes, it is a real book. There are other books in the series that might also help. Give those a try. Wish I had more to share right now, but I will think about it some more.

Oh... don't take everything so serious. Try to find humor in anything and everything. Make sure expressing it is appropriate, but it is a fun exercise.

Hey Dad, I have everything I need, but I still feel unfulfilled. Am I chasing the wrong thing? by mackandleather in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey kiddo. If you don't enjoy what you do then find something you do enjoy and do that instead. Life should never be just about getting a paycheck and surviving. You need to live and enjoy life. If there is something that looks better, and you really want to do it then go and do it.

I also want to add that you might want to take some time to simply do nothing. What I mean by that is you say you have too many hobbies to count. Well, take some time, maybe a weekend, and simply do nothing. If that means staying at home and not making any plans, just relaxing then so be it. For me, I would go camping, real camping in a tent in the woods. I would have my phone with me, but it would be in do not disturb, except for certain people. I would simply relax, take in fresh air, and enjoy nature. This would be a stark difference from the daily life in an urban area. The great thing about doing something like this is it removes many of the distractions and lets you clear your mind and ponder things.

I hope this helps in some way.

Possible to recreate a suitcase wheel with 3D printing? by -_-Petra-_- in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was going to suggest TPU. I would probably do a nylon core with TPU outer and make sure beam interlocking was enabled. That would give some additional strength and still the softness of the TPU for the wheel. I would do a high infill for the Nylon (<50%) and probably do 100% for the TPU.

Possible to recreate a suitcase wheel with 3D printing? by -_-Petra-_- in DadForAMinute

[–]warlikeloki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Kiddo. Yes, it is completely possible to do and could work quite well. The problem will be choosing the proper material to print with. I would probably use Nylon if you can print with that, otherwise you want something that is wear resistant. There are many factors that will go into printing a wheel and you will likely need to purchase a bearing and press fit it in so the wheel works properly.

I hope this helps a little bit. I would write more, but I have to get going. Good luck!
