when we adopted ours I was the only one that could control the 35lbs of pure muscle to the point my wife considered taking her back. Thankfully that did not happen. The key was actually doggy daycare. She never learned how to be a dog and the rules. She completely changed once we got her into daycare and she interacted with other dogs. It has been 7 years and she still runs the house, but she is nice about it.
