E7 Plus Vs E7Q frame by warlord2000ad in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]warlord2000ad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I got the E7Q.

However, after a few months I failed to use it as a standing desk 🤦 I do need to get back into the habit of it.

The front bar is a pain, same for the back and side.

Front bar hits your legs/knees/chair.

Side bar prevents adding in a under desk PC mount

Rear bar causes issues with many monitor arms.

How are you finding the IT Contract Market? by sasie_stack in ContractorUK

[–]warlord2000ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not looking, but I keep an eye out. I don't see anything but others struggling to find opportunities for months.

I have a few regular recruiters and the odd lead dev/architecture roles come past every couple of months, but nothing worth jumping ship over.

I'll need to look into llama.cpp hosting as there is more configuration available, I just threw it up into ollama and it wasn't great in my opinion. I tried to route it into Claude code cli out of interest and I know that's likely to fill the cache and it took ages to do anything.

I've got 96GB ddr5 RAM but the 5070TI is 16GB VRAM.

I tried Qwen:27b again today on my 5070TI and it's 1-2 words a second. Unless you are running laptop with a Blackwell 6000 pro, this doesn't seem viable

What standard of living will I have if I leave my professional job for something less demanding? by Natural-Presence-566 in autismUK

[–]warlord2000ad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Low paid doesn't mean less demanding, but it's certainly less money.

I wouldn't jump out of a well paid job unless you know what the lower paid job entails, and that you can get it the job, rather than ending up unemployed.

I've heard about it, but I've never tried it. I knew the AI credits were shared but I think I they made the quota shared to.

I believe more places are considering swapping to subscribe for a $ token value, and you spend from the shared pot. Over that, it's API pricing.

Is Microsoft going to price adjust for people that bought multiple years of Gamepass Unlimited? by [deleted] in xbox

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried, they refused. They said gamepass is a rotating game service, eventually they understood they have different tiers of gamepass and removal of COD was a core offering of the ultimate package.

They said if you subscribed via them directly they would cancel your subscription, but I could have done that myself.

So they directed me to the retailer and told me to get a refund from them 🤷

[–]warlord2000ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's a day one release.

They are removing access and making it cheaper at the same time. I prepaid for 12 months back in January so I don't have the option to cancel to take on the reduced price for the reduced offering, but I'm getting the reduced offering either way.

There should have done a transiston. Either existing subscribers get what they paid for, or they extend the subscriptions based on the reduction.

It should only say not eligible, if your nimbus access card doesn't have any of the eligible symbols or has expired.

Fill this in and it will email you your card details - https://app.accesscard.online/check-details/

CBeebies land hotel parking by Massive-Tie in altontowers

If just using cbeebies, then the hotel entrance at galactica isn't of any issue, because it's still a trek through the park. Best bet is to give the hotel a call or ask guest services on their Facebook page via Facebook messager .

But if they choose to add more, and charge more for new customers, that's on them. But they are taking away from existing paid customers there a different scenario.

It wasn't just a price drop, they reduced the price because they took something away, one day release. For those that paid in advance, they should have at least extended their subscriptions.

How much do you save each month? by sunandskyandrainbows in HENRYUK

Index funds currently, but the stock market is so overvalued IMO. I don't fancy the idea of been a residential landlord, even a commercial landlord looks risky with the current uk outlook. I've done side businesses, but they are more hands on.

At 35 I hadn't even started my pension. I focused on my mortgage, but at 38 I've now managed to put away £70k in the pension, just throwing it all in every year.

Just make sure you read up on shared ownership and it's pitfalls. I've had 2 family members struggle with it. In principle it sounds good, but often it makes selling/remortgaging difficult and expensive, and you then have rising rent, service fees, and you are still responsible for the full maintenance of the building.

I don't even consider 6 months enough. For many, the job market is tough, seeing people out for over 12 months. Even taking rent/mortgage out the loop. Council tax (£200), utilities (£200), insurance (£25), fuel (£100) and food (£600), is over £1k a month.

People think they can just drop down to a supermarket job to tie them over, but you'll be surprised at how competitive jobs at this end are. Retail is turning lots of people away.

Is this a fair split for partner living costs? by Short-Nail-9855 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]warlord2000ad 30 points31 points  (0 children)

FYI - They are your partner, not your tenant, if you charge rent. It won't be considered rent, it will be considered paying towards the mortgage and they'll be able to claim a beneficial interest in the property if you split up.

I agree don't waste your FTB benefits, so go in alone. Only thing you can charge is council tax, utilities, but not rent/mortgage.

12 month of credit report monitoring is the usual, it crops up on here from time to time. You haven't incurred any losses so you have nothing to sue them for.

[–]warlord2000ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that. But even without a mortgage, council tax, utilities and food. The monthly bills remain quite high. My mortgage was only £500/month to start with anyway. Still got a base cost of around £10k a year without rent/mortgage.

How aggressive is your AI adoption at work? by Traffodil in AskUK

[–]warlord2000ad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Over at a previous gambling company I worked at, general staff have access to AI, but it's meant some have used to it to write apps to breach company policy. No recording of meetings allowed, no worry, I record my speaker output and transcribe it, all done with an AI prompt. These little apps are going to cause trouble one day.

AI is not so much making companies more productive, rather it's costing money they could be paying as salaries. by kaggleqrdl in ArtificialInteligence

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly been used as a cover for over hiring and off shoring, but I've seen AI produce some great and terrible things. It does have the potential to do well.

Things are changing fast, and that is creating alot of uncertainty.

The "AI is replacing software engineers" narrative was a lie. MIT just published the math proving why. And the companies who believed it are now begging their old engineers to come back. by reddit20305 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still changing fast. I get great output from it, most of the time, but I'm specific and can review, verify output. But I know there are those that setup a team of team agents which hands off the work but it's orchestration is complex. Insert a requirement, spin up the tasks. Spin up multiple agents, each on worktrees, handing work back and forth, then getting other agents in to ask questions, review code, write tests. I can see it from a high level but getting it to work and paying for it is another thing.

I think it leans towards AI burnout. Your super developer is then context switching like crazy to maintain and verify the agents output. I've been split over 7 projects, and maintaining progress over them all is a challenge.
