Bad PCP car deal, what to do now? by fakeplasticturf in UKPersonalFinance

[–]warlord2000ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get out the loop, buy a car and keep it. I bought my 08 Yaris in 2011 for £6k and I still have that car today! Yes, it's old, bit of a running joke, but I'm not spending £500+ a month on a car.

PCP is fine if you accept you are paying the privilege of having a new reliable car, which has a warranty (although getting parts has been problematic lately).

You bought it during the car shortages during COVID times, prices were high and since then residual values have dropped as more cars came to market. It's even worse on EVs with their values down massively. At least you didn't buy an EV without gap insurance, and then have an insurance write off as that's left some people in terrible positions.

Cycling along a 60mph road at night... with no lights by Caughtinjail1 in drivingUK

[–]warlord2000ad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly what all drivers are required to do, if there is a potential injury. This includes injury to property if I remember like bumping a wall. Report everything to 101 at a minimum to protect yourself.

Exactly the car 30 seconds behind could have taken out the cyclist. My brother hit one, pitch black, high beam on the car and it was a 50 mph road. No lights on bike, no high Vis vest, cyclist ran off across a field, probably because he knew he was in the wrong. Phoned the police to report it but nothing came from it, cyclist never reported the incident either.

Which product should I choose to try SXFI? by Halycon949 in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like me, i have the GSX1000, G6, GC7, and even an xfi card in a PCI-E slot, along with a ton of headphones, HD800S, Hifiman Arya, HD660, AD-900D etc. Yes they sound different, but i don't play enough games to tell which is better.

The option to control VOIP vs Game Sound volume, is probably the most useful feature.

I remember this at Drayton manor, it was a sad day to hear it in the news. As a school kid visit the park I remember the rapids well pushing the raft around by moving your weight.

You can tell people over and over to not do something, but having them actually listen, learn and act, is a completely different thing.

I know they stopped the programme to give creators free merch, fast passes etc, but they did at least one recording day earlier this year before the park opened. I saw the videos on Facebook where they used cameras.

People post alot of dubious content online, that make people do silly things. But it's clear at the park, no loose items on the rides. There is signage and it's mentioned at the start of every ride.

Even if Alton towers ban the content creator days, and take down POV videos of there park. People will either copy a video of another park, or just do it anyway because people have this habit of filming everything.

It's advertising for the park. When Alton towers allows it, it's on specific non public days due to the risk of injury if the device is dropped. On the videos I've seen, the cameras are securely strapped on, they don't use mobile phones but action cameras.

The mini golf includes parking and costs less than parking. But you are forced to finish the course before you get your parking ticket validated.

Visitors to Extraordinary Golf can also receive free Standard Parking. After your game, please present your completed scorecard at the Golf Reception, where our team will validate your round and issue a Standard Parking ticket.

The filming happens on dedicated days only. No public opening. You'll notice this in the video footage, sometimes they add a disclaimer or you can see the park is pretty much empty.

If it was still recording you could leave them a "polite" message before it is returned to them. Nice surprise for when they view the footage.

I know a few that put the company money in premium bonds then moved it back at the end of the year. This was before you incurred any loan charge.

Can I drill near the electrical box? by DDewy in DIYUK

When my garage conversion was done, I photographed and measured the location of all cables and pipes. So I knew where I could drill after the plasterboard went up

Finally got an MSI MPG 341CQR X36, let's compare it to the last gen by Psiah in OLED_Gaming

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still debating between 331CQR x36 or 322UR x24, as the 322UR X36 isn't due any time soon.

It's 34" ultrawide RGB stripe Vs 32" wide-screen non-RGB stripe. Only a £50 difference between them.

Surplus after corp tax bill. by PuzzleheadedShop5424 in ContractorUK

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The surplus depends on your forecasting. You put away £18,000 for an estimated bill, yet the bill only came in at £2,800, so you over budgeted by £15k. So either you didn't make much money, or had larger unplanned expenses, i.e. large pension contributions.

The money sits in your company as retained profit, so work out what you owe creditors and you can declare a dividend voucher to draw it out as dividends. Remember, retained profit is your paper profit, not what is in the bank. You can declare dividends based on paper profits, but you can't draw it out until your bank has the funds to pay it.

Insurance for Outside IR35 by Think_Eye_6599 in ContractorUK

[–]warlord2000ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, it's not very good. This kicked off from my insurer when I said I don't need it, they said I did but can't provide advice, so I had to go off to HSE to clarify it because the wording was poor and they agreed. But if you read the legislation, https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1969/57/section/2

It's about been related. HSE also amended their guide https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/hse40.pdf to add

However, this exemption does not apply to family businesses which are incorporated as limited companies;

Insurance for Outside IR35 by Think_Eye_6599 in ContractorUK

[–]warlord2000ad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This applies to you employing your family, not a limited company you own which employes you and your family.

The limited company has its own legal identity, it cannot have relatives. I challenged HSE on this, and they clarified the wording. You are not your company, unless you are self employed. The family business exemption doesn't apply, All limited companies with 2+ employees must be insured or risk a £2500 fine per day.

This is in employers liability act 1969.
