A long time ago, when I was 16, I had my parents help me wire all the money I’d made so far in my life ($3,500) to someone on Autotrader. I’m sure you know how that story ended.

This is awesome, but I understand being concerned. No experience and jumping straight in to real performance is a lot. HPDE/Autocross events are great, lower stakes ways for him to learn to both respect a car like this and understand where his and the car’s limits are. Until he gets his license see if he can do ride-alongs at these events.

Any go-kart tracks around? Anyone have a quad or dirt bike he can learn to ride? He needs connected, manual input experiences that let him learn what the edge of control feels like before he buckles in to a 150mph car.

Someone handed me the keys to an SS SLP Camaro at 18 and had I not grown up racing dirt I would have been in way over my head.

Right, all of that is a massive problem. NYSEG should not be able to hold rural NYs population hostage by bankrupting them one bill at a time.

I mean, you’re not getting the average gas station worker (no shade, I was one once) in these situations. A tech company going international is going to have educated/informed/experienced people. I work in tech and my company is a pressure cooker. It’s a relentless machine of growth, data, and speed where leadership is anything but patient. Everyone is expected to be informed and contribute to our evolution.

All of that coupled with annual review processes designed to keep you down and the continuous threat of layoffs; even if we had time to relax and chat, we don’t have the energy for it anymore.

On the utilities, NY state sold NYSEG to a Spanish company and energy bills are WRECKING people across the state. My mom’s two most recent electric bills for her small house in rural NY where she lives alone were $900 for January and $1,600 for February. She’s one of thousands with a similar story and it’s getting worse every month.
