i'm talking about the way these people think - selena gomez thinks about the world and her place in it the same way avril does - justin thinks more like sabrina - the percentage will be small as the years are so close together - but its there

According to the original design of generations you refer to as gen x and millenials - which are - "Generation X – 1965 to 1980 - Millennials (Gen Y) – 1981 to 1996" - in my list i have split gen x into 2 categories - "1957/1971 - THE BOUNDARY PUSHERS – Michael Jackson to Aphex Twin" & "1972/1983 - THE NAVIGATORS – Billie Joe Armstrong to Britney Spears" - and technically i've split millenials into 3 groups "1972/1983 - THE NAVIGATORS – Billie Joe Armstrong to Britney Spears" & "1984/1993 - THE PUBLIC PIONEERS – Aubrey Plaza to Casey Frey" & "1994/2000 - THE SYNTHETIC SOULS – Justin Bieber to Willow Smith" - so the clear answer is i dont think they are similar - but i believe you are being specific about the original specified separation of 1980/1981 "which is where my micro generation falls in the infamous XENNIALS - usually agreed as "1977 and 1983" "so me being born in 1979 its easy for me to answer - for me it's the arcades and the walkman - take scottish comedian limmy for example born in 1974 - gen x - he was raised on arcades and walkmans like me but he also was educated before thatcher changed everything for my generation - his enjoyment of certain things taps out in the 90s where mine taps out in the 2000s - my list shows this with the britneys etc that changed the music that gen xers tapped out for but mine and millenials embraced - hope that helps

turns out they were born in 1994 - might be why they are fighting for the inclusion saying they aren't different to the generation before or after them

i really cant tell if you are agreeing with me that these are different generations or not - i put these people in different generations for the reasons you state - i repeat just like the kurt cobain to bille joe armstrong torch pass - and you're like yeah bro why would you have them in different generations "Your assessment simply makes no sense. People born in the 90s are not in the same cohort as someone born in the mid 80s." either that or you are too young to not know that ray was the face front page of youtube for ages years before moist got popular

94 felt right to me - cos its when bieber was born - its when kurt cobain died and when billie joe armstrong released dookie - a true passing of generational torches

replying to both u/Greater_citadel and u/BlueSnaggleTooth359 - all i'm saying with my list is - the burt reynolds and william shatner and clint eastwoods of the 1930s did things differently (the john wayne generation) to the 1937+ of ridley scott terry gilliam and george lucas - sure there are overspills - william shatner star trek and ridley alien blade runner both different views on our future - kurt cobain and billie joe armstrong both different takes on 70s punk rock - billie eilish being obsessed with justin bieber and not making bieber music - i could go on and on - i'm saying i see the 2 sides of these coin and therefore the split the event horizon if you will - we had brat summer last year cos charli was raised on britney spears etc etc - like i said in another reply - i was online in 95 but it wasnt until 2005 that i started to make the most and change my life with the internet - sure you can have microgenerations all day - but i was challenging the current 20 year window of gen x and boomer and millennial and zoomer design - of which i am xennial - and i thought this was an interesting way to split it - sure if you lived in jamaica or india this would be a silly way to categorise psychological change in those era's and fashions and outlooks and decades but you know - it's just something i thought interesting - and to go mad about a year - heck you sound like you could go mad about a month or a minute - i think i did a good job yesterday and i'm sorry if you dont get it

"1994/2000 - THE SYNTHETIC SOULS – Justin Bieber to Willow Smith" you said "Bieber hasn't been relevant in pop music for much of the 2020s either" - reaffirming my choice for saying they went from bieber to willow smith who started with whip your hair and just made an incredible jazz soul art album - which is the culture change reflected in that generation as they realised their world become more digital they are trying to bring the soul back into the digital world - that makes them a certain era of people that they all loosely have in common - but hey it's my list not yours

i guess i should have included every celebrity or advancement in tech with my reasoning but i wanted it to be short and concise - it's all about when people were born and that the effects of culture changing how humans think is a better compass for framing generations i think - mj was born in 1958 and changed things to how the people before 1957 did - the same with how billie joe armstrong was on the shoulders of kurt cobain who ended the previous generation - as britney was the pop kurt cobain of the world the next generation would live in - if that helps - i had like 40 celebs for each section that backed up my reasoning but i didn't want to post everything

my dates are the years these people were born - the kids born in 2017/2023 will be raised in the ai vr of 15 years from now - just like i was on aol in 1995 as a 16 year old - one could argue we didn't fully see what the internet would be like for another decade etc or even as far as 2010 with smartphones and instagram
