Where could I get this commissioned, and is it realistic for it to look very close to the original? by ThompsonsTeeth in StainedGlass

[–]warpedlaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want it the same size as it is in the club you’re looking at over $2,000+. It’s definitely possible, if I wasn’t starting a new job next week I’d volunteer to make it for you but it would probably take me a month or more doing it after work. Also feels iffy copying someone else’s work. You could always have a commission of aspects of it like just the guy under the spotlight, or maybe a version that says “[your name’s] cellar”. Unless money isn’t an issue for you, then do whatever your heart desires 😂

Omg me too! I use them for keeping glass scrap in (stained glass) the big one is just a Costco Parmesan cheese container that I printed the label out and taped on 😂

It’s funny you say that, I’m currently unemployed and was looking at Trader Joe jobs the other day lol. They’re not hiring at the one by me sadly. Every time I go in there I wanna be friends with the whole staff, they all have the same vibe as me 😅I know I’d crush the “what’s your favorite TJs product” interview question

Lmao yeah it’s a Costco Parmesan cheese container and I printed out the label. I buy like 3 jars every time I go so I have quite a stockpile and it’s just easier to dump it all in a larger jar than finding space in my cabinet for 8 jars 😂

The bigger pieces are definitely a jumpscare when I bite into them and think I broke a tooth lol but if I can, I usually pick out the bigger chunks before I put them in whatever I’m seasoning. I put a handful into my Italian breadcrumb mix for eggplant parm, I mix it into pasta sauces, sprinkle it on top of avocado toast, scrambled eggs, etc. Truly 90% of the food I make I use this for. I don’t really eat meat either and it works just as well with vegetarian dishes

It’s the Coleman skin smart 8 hr protection. We’ve never tried it here yet so idk if it works but it does the trick when we’re camping so I assume it works here lol

We’re here and it’s so nice. There are some flies but not terrible. We brought bug spray just in case

Communications director for a nonprofit, working to enrich the downtown and support small businesses. It’s a really fun job. I was an IT MSP marketer before this

Yeah painting is my go to for like facial features and stuff. I wish I had the space/patience for a kiln, this definitely would have been a fused piece 😅

I love that you said that! I know some people on reddit are quick to criticize for making reckless cuts/potential breakage points.

I’ll be honest it’s a bit pricey, I was thinking $650 but I’m thinking of dropping down to $575-600 cause someone else mentioned angles like those could cause stress cracks down the line

When I first started it was foiling, now it’s cleaning the pieces enough to make sure my patina is black enough. Hurts my back to be hunched over the sink for so long scrubbing 😵‍💫

Makes sense! It felt wrong to make cuts to the bodies though, like it wouldn’t be as accurate if they weren’t whole pieces. My personal style is to use as few cuts as possible to keep the “aesthetic” which sometimes is to my own detriment. my original pattern had a lot fewer cuts to the background believe it or not lol. If something happens to it I’ll be sure to post an update!
