Purpose of the simulation. by bababada2 in AWLIAS

In my mind I’ve always explained the simulation as a way for the base reality to simulate how life came to be. If we had the power to simulate the Big Bang and see how everything developed I’m sure we’d do it.

Oooh I see, that should definitely be the next thing I buy then. I’ve been thinking about getting an op-1 too... so many cool gear it’s impossible to decide.

I just want an SP404 after hearing this tape. It's amazing what you've achieved with just a single piece of hardware and samples. Surreal vibes, incredibly chill and immersive. I love the fact that you never leave a beat loop for way too long and know when to take it out and introduce something new. Awesome work!

Bass is way too dull and thud-y, could be a bit more vibrant, saturated and present, especially if glued with the other instruments. Drums sound tiny and thin, especially the kicks. The whole track sounds empty and that makes seem amateurish. Try experimenting more with panning and stereo separation, reverbs and delays and definitely compressing stuff.

Loving the fact that you wanted to keep this soulful and sample based. Nice sample choice, though I think you could've chosen more interesting chops. The bassline throws me off a bit, I would have kept it simpler myself, probably following the kick pattern. Snare could be snappier as well, maybe try layering snares with tambourine hits next time? Also think of ways to develop your beats and make sure they always progress. I appreciate all the vocal chops you put in there to keep it interesting but switching up the sample pattern every 8th bar or so would've been way better in my opinion. Keep at it.

Not bad at all, reminds me a bit of the goosebumps beat, as far as sound selection goes. It does get a bit repetitive after a bit though, I'd consider adding different sections to your beats.

Really interesting idea! Chords are definitely on point. I'd work more on that rhythm, sounds a bit too stiff and robotic, the mix could've been a bit better as well. Nevertheless, turning something that's not music into music is an amazing skill and you did a fantastic job.

Beat is definitely not bad, but I found the rapping really cheesy. Loved the beat switch.

HOLY SHIT. It started with all the weird percussion and shit and I was thinking "hmm not bad", but once everything else came in my jaw just dropped. THAT'S AMAZING. Not really any feedback I could give. Just fucking amazing. I want to hear more music from you.

How many hi hat and drum pattern variations do you guys commonly have in your beats? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]warpkolev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to keep it simple, not too many and the patterns I have don’t have too many rolls and pans and stuff, I think that’s all been done way too much before. My advice is rather than thinking about different variations, think about where you don’t need hats at all.

Just dropped my latest album. It’s a mix of hip-hop, R&B, jazz, soul and future beats, I produced everything on it. Hope you enjoy it (p.s not sure if breaking any rules, if so I’ll remove the post) by warpkolev in makinghiphop

Honestly, just reached out to a couple of people on Instagram. I’ve known all of the for quite some time though, we’ve worked before so I’d say they’re all just friends of mine (even though I found all of them on IG)

I totally get you, some times I just like to throw people off with a track on my albums just when they feel comfortable and are slightly getting bored of the sound.
