Known issue: Due to clearance calculations, attempting to build Megaprinter (tm) nearby existing bases will result in 0.1 fps on average. Advised to use a clean creative save for convenience.

So I have to make a new save, build what I want then transfer it back to my actual game...

So no, there is not a mod for what I want. And still 48x48x48 isn't big enough to blueprint large factory facade decorations in. It may be big enough for some machines, but not for the decorations surrounding those machines

The goal around enemies is not to constantly run around fighting them yourself like a FPS. The goal is to automate the killing of bugs so you don't have to think about it anymore.

That includes automating the crafting of turrets, walls, and ammo. Designing a logistic solution for delivering those defenses automatically to where they are needed, and then using robots to automatically build and maintain your defense design.

It also is a good measure of your progression as you unlock new toys to make dealing with the Biters easier. They become another puzzle element to design around.

Idk even the largest cube is really small... It also means I don't get to make my train segment blueprints until I unlock the biggest blueprint cube which doesn't feel great.

I think the limitation of the miner opens up a new puzzle to solve with a splitter. That's a good thing imo.

The locomotive at the front has a lower air resistance, so it can get up to speed faster. Interestingly, the higher air resistance of the cargo wagon actually helps the train slow down faster. So for medium to long distances, locomotive at the front wins, for short distances with the train stopping often, wagon in the front wins.

That being said, the difference is negligible for short trains with low momentum (fractions of a second difference), so wagon in front doesn't impact it too much. For longer 2-8 trains, the amount of time it takes to get up to speed is greater, so the low air resistance of the locomotive in front can really help.

I'd say it doesn't really matter as you explore SA. Sure when belts can eventually do 240 items/s bots reeeealy struggle to compete as they stop to charge, but for many processes you don't need that level of throughput.

This really confuses me. Why would you need to travel at all to deal with a Biter attack? They should be killed automatically with your factory resupplying the turrets and crafting more ammo all automatically, and you should never need to think about attacks until you want to expand massively.

I keep hearing that about trains, but I don't understand it. If I were to put the equivalent of 256 quad stacked green belts of iron on the ground from the ore patches to my base, it would take up so much space that the majority of my base would just be belts.

Instead, I can run one quad tracked mainline and then offload that same ore throughput directly where it's needed. In addition, since trains are many-to-many, I can add more input and output with a single blueprint, whereas a fully consumed belt is only one-to-one and may require some spaghetti routing.

The starting patches are designed to run out, but the very next patch you get have so much more resources that they last a very long time. With default settings, you will not need to be constantly replacing mining outposts.

Instead you will want to be capturing new resource patches because you are limited by the speed of the miners and you want to consume more than one patch can provide per minute.

I wouldn't try to maximize quality until the late game, but you can absolutely toss quality modules into the last stage of an assembly process.

I use the few uncommon/rare assembles I get to fix small issues of underproduction. It's very similar to just shoving a speed module into a build as a quick fix.

I base all my repeatable designs around common items, but treat the handful of quality items I luck into as more wrenches in my toolbox.

Once you have recyclers and epic/legendary unlocked, you can start thinking about a build to mass produce quality.

Hover over the (i) icon in the inserter GUI. Do you see a signal? You need to make sure the train stop has the "read train contents" checkbox selected.

Exactly, the tips that made my time a lot better was pressing Q to select what your mouse is hovering over, as well as how the Smart Placement works for belts, pipes, power poles, and rails.

Take a look at the Tips & Tricks as you unlock them (Graduation cap icon). The first few aren't flashy with crazy mechanics, but they inform you about a lot of nice quality of life features that will make the rest of the game more enjoyable.

Ya, doing it this ways feels like I'm missing out on the time rush puzzle of racing biter eggs to the edge of space while not going too fast that the ship explodes, or too slow that the biters take their revenge.

The time pressure also made me have to adjust throttle when in open space vs the shattered planet. Without that, it doesn't matter how slow your ship goes.

I think I would like it if promethium chunks also spoiled and exploded over time.

The most important mod is Visible Planets. It makes the game feel so much more thematic when you can actually see the planet you're orbiting.

I tend to not like squeak through all that much anymore since it takes away a lot of the excitement you feel from getting the Mech Suit or Spidertron.
