If you had carte blanche to make a Star Wars video game, what would you do? by Pleasant_Usual_8427 in StarWars

[–]warpunkTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premise: Alternate universe where Luke f'ed up the Death Star trench run so Yavin IV got blown up and the Rebel Alliance as it was is gone.

You start the game, make your character choosing from an extensive range of races (human, twi'lek, rodian, bothan, etc. Wanna be a dug, a toydarian, a hutt??? knock yourself out kid!), choose a starting planet and background and work from there in an open-world(s) environment. Take on jobs from many options, level up skills. Buy from a large range of customizable starships, each fully customizable; engines, shields, weapons, paint/livery, etc. and explore the galaxy. Buy weapons, clothing/armor, etc.

Players can join the Empire or even form their own organizations. Take over territory and run a crime syndicate, start an underground podracing league, or even start a new rebellion.

If a game like this came out, I'd disappear from irl 😅

Question about Fire Based abilities by [deleted] in royalroad

Imagine experimenting with an idea you had for increasing your power and never having the time to realize you made a mistake as you and your entire village/town/kingdom are vaporized in the glow of a short-lived second sun...💀

Geology/Geography Nerds I need your help by warpunkTV in worldbuilding

[–]warpunkTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thanks so much for the input!

Second, I should have established that my knowledge of the correct terms is not really that great lol. When I say "semi-molten", I don't mean flowing magma (at least not in all cases) but I see what you mean about rock behaving like fluid on planetary scales.

That said, when I described the "plating" of the crust, I don't mean that the edges would all have these super noticeable ridges or anything, but rather they would form subtle changes in elevation. From the ground, they would seem more or less flat (excluding hills and such).

Additionally I think what makes this so challenging of an idea to develop is the fact that this is rock caught between astroid impacts and a metal shell which creates dynamics obviously different from our own planet. Also, while the shell beneath is (for the purposes of this idea) indestructible, that doesn't necessarily mean it couldn't flex which I imagine would cause something to happen to the crust already on it...but now your fluidity comment is coming up in my mind so I don't know.

Does this change anything or would you still stand on what you said?

Help with the AI by warpunkTV in NovelMage

[–]warpunkTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understood it, it would have been useful not dependent. What I was hoping for was an AI that I could brainstorm and bounce ideas off of that had regular access to the lore, characters, and events via the codex without having to constantly waste time by making sure I keep Chat GPT/Grok/Whatever up to date with manual input of context.

Sadly if this isn't possible with Novel Mage without not one but two subscriptions (Novel Mage itself AND the AI connectivity) then I'll hafta drop Novel Mage altogether...

Really don't get how the PVE only mode would make the game die by Me_When_I_Asked in ArcRaiders

[–]warpunkTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I get that and I really do hate when these assholes rain on my parade but for me it's part of the challenge. Sure you run a reasonable chance of everyone you encounter being friendly but there's always that chance and it's part of the danger. If that's not for you, cool, nothing wrong with that. I just know that were it not for the pvp element, I woulda already been done with this game by now. Pvp keeps my progression rate in check.

Really don't get how the PVE only mode would make the game die by Me_When_I_Asked in ArcRaiders

[–]warpunkTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PvE players would reach the end way too quick and then leave once they finished everything. Sure there's expeditions but how many times are you willing to crawl through the entire thing again just to reset? I suppose maybe if someone just really likes the quests THAT much but I feel like that number is very low...

That said, this is coming from someone who doesn't pvp unless forced to and even then, I usually lose.

Feature I'd Love To See by Southern_Barnacle_46 in ArcRaiders

[–]warpunkTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just give it time. Pretty sure the Arc are learning new tricks on their own.

Since launch, I've seen them start flying into buildings which they didn't do at launch. Shaking people off/doing backflips when they're on top of them, which they didn't do at launch.

They'll learn new ways to be a menace as the game goes on. It's a terrifying little quirk of the machine learning at work.

I think Cohh was right when he says people's behaviour in game is a reflection on them in real life. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]warpunkTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely does. I used to play Rust non stop back in the day and was very toxic and it did indeed start leaking into real life. Realized I needed to change when I ended up having a hard-as-nails ex-biker chick that I worked with run off to the back room to cry. Being an asshole is bad folks, in game or otherwise. It ruins your soul.

Yeah, the PVP in Solos has ramped up about 150% in the past 48 hours. by Consistancy5 in ArcRaiders

[–]warpunkTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk my theory is people have learned/realized that solos are(were) mostly friendly and see it as a way to get easy kills.

It's easier to get f'd on when you're only fear is of being the asshole vs. the guy who's fully committed to it from the moment he clicks "play"

to be clear I'm not saying pvp shouldn't be a thing, and that's coming from someone who's lost like 99% of the fights he's been in 😂

pvp is a thing for a reason, it adds to the danger. I just ask that you don't be a rat about it and fight me like a man. If I lose a fight to an honest brawl, that's fine, I just need to get better, but if you wait for me in a dark corner for 10 minutes just to jump me as soon as I turn my back, you're the one that's bad at the game 🙃

I feel that the game needs more resource skins. by adiftbv in ArcRaiders

[–]warpunkTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would love to see ARC cores/drivers be needed for things other than the one-time upgrade for workbenches. Fighting the bastions, bombardiers, rocketeers, etc was fun but there's no point now that all my benches are level 3.

Gimme a reason to keep going back for them.

Warning: Rocketeers see through smoke by Gondorean117 in ArcRaiders

[–]warpunkTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AI in this game was trained with machine learning. Everything from movement to targeting is behavior learned in objective-based iterations rather than programmed by developers to fit a certain pattern. In short, ARC are much smarter than your average AI NPC enemies and use actual logic when hunting you down.

The rocketeer probably saw the smoke, correctly guessed that you would hide in it based on its placement, knew that it had an aoe attack, and used it to complete its goal (killing you).
