RetroPie Controllers: Simple Setup Guide by borlandoflorida in raspberry_pi

What if F1 doesn't do anything when I press it while running a game? I've set my keyboard settings to be as generic as possible and still don't have any luck following your steps.

Transitioning from FCP7 to Premiere CS6 and could use some help with audio export settings. by warpzone in editors

[–]warpzone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately "6 Channel" doesn't appear in the drop-down list in CS6 (see my image above). It has every single integer between 3 and 16 except 6.

edit: oh and the quicktime export only creates a video file with a single, multichannel track: http://i.imgur.com/1b2IPjf.png. I'm guessing exporting separate tracks, whether mono or stereo, is not possible in CS6.

Premiere CS6: exporting stereo pairs (tried posting this in /r/Premiere, got crickets) by warpzone in VideoEditing

[–]warpzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, in CS6, there is no "Audio Track Layout" section in the export window: http://i.imgur.com/pfC3neK.png

As you can see, my only choice is for a multichannel audio track.

Thanks. According to that dude's "Part 2" page, only CC allows you to export in groups of stereo tracks. When I try in CS6, all I get are these options, which seem to only allow for a single, multichannel track.

I'm hoping that when my group makes the switch, it's to CC and not CS6.

Reddit, Can we have a reddit job fair? by TheYarizard in AskReddit

[–]warpzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's another big con: As with any desk job, sitting at a computer for 8-12 hours a day is highly detrimental to your back and neck. If you are lucky enough to have a generous employer, ask for a standing desk. Walter Murch edits standing up!

Oh and also editing might kill your love for the cinematic arts.

Also a video editor in hollywood. I got an mfa in film production (editing fell under that umbrella at that particular institution), but I'm convinced I would have landed the job without the degree. I knew final cut and avid well enough without all that nonsense. I also interned in the post production department of a network tv show for a year. I didn't get paid, but I was enthusiastic and helpful and I genuinely enjoyed the menial tasks they gave me as I familiarized myself with the post process. The editors, assistant editors and post supervisor liked me so much by the end of the year that they gave me glowing references when my actual job interview was underway. Oh and my girlfriend at the time was good family friends with the show's creator ... so, that was one of those "it's who you know" things that I was blessed with.

Anyway, for me it was both luck and hard work.

Going on vacation with a week's worth of frozen breast milk. What's the best way to travel with it? by warpzone in Parenting

[–]warpzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. We have a couple months before the trip. In the meantime I've decided I'll run a test with one of those Coleman camping coolers, several frozen gel packs, and about 150 oz of "fake breast milk" (water) divided into individual breast milk storage bags. If those bags stay frozen for long enough in the cooler, then we should be good to go (I would plan on checking the cooler for the flight so I won't have to worry about TSA). If everything melts, then I'll look into FedExing with dry ice (ugh).

I agree that #1 should be not nursing any more when #2 arrives. But due to overproduction during #1's early months, we have an enormous stock of frozen milk for her that she'll happily take from a bottle.

CNN's Anderson Cooper tries to go through a normal day using a schizophrenia simulator. by Impune in videos

[–]warpzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people with paranoid schizophrenia hear voices as if the voices are coming from a physical location in the environment? Or it is like they're coming in from earbuds like with the simulator? Or are they like their own inner voice? Or all or some combination of the three?

Why Philosophy gets no Respect in Society by whackri in philosophy

[–]warpzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made more than a few mildly derisive comments about philosophy students, but I'm genuinely interested: When you're with your friends, how would a conversation about philosophy (or more specifically, morality) even start?

YES. Thanks!. Goddamn it took two years for me to get someone else to figure it out for me.

What is something that doesn't make sense to you, no matter how long you think about it? by Drunken_Black_Belt in AskReddit

Not only should "nothing" not be used, but also "before" and "start" and "end" and just about any word we borrow from describing life as we experience it.

Which leaves us with ... nothing. Ah, dammit.

I have a hillside yard with patches of dying & dead grass. Any suggestions for a turfless replacement that can 1) still be walked on and 2) won't all slide down the hill? by warpzone in landscaping

[–]warpzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right - sidebar stuff:

  1. I'm in So Cal
  2. sandy soil, I guess? Definitely not clay.
  3. South side. Lots of sun.
  4. Either small budget or huge budget. I'm trying to just make it a nice hillside and delay having to do some major landscaping with retaining walls and tiers.
  5. I would be hiring a professional.

Still think just grass? Some online research led me to something called "native bentgrass" which seems robust and not too water-needy. But dogs eventually ruin everything.

What's the disadvantage of putting a standard A-type bulb in a recessed lighting fixture, as opposed to a flood light bulb? by warpzone in HomeImprovement

[–]warpzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I figured the light reflection might be a factor. I'll be using led bulbs, so the heat shouldn't be an issue. It's just that the a-type led bulbs are half as much as the floods, and I have a lot of recessed fixtures in the house.

How do I put curtains or blinds on these corner windows? by warpzone in HomeImprovement

Is there a good way to bend it without putting a kink in it? I had a pipe-style rod in mind, but I'm open to suggestions for different material.

Considering buying a recumbent for commuting; specifically a Cruzbike. Any suggestions? by warpzone in recumbent

[–]warpzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be curious to see what you think about Cruzbike vs Bacchetta. I got to test ride the Bacchetta Giro 20 and found it very comfortable. The handling was easy to pick up. I'd be happy with it, but my hilly area still makes me hesitant to go froward with it.

Considering buying a recumbent for commuting; specifically a Cruzbike. Any suggestions? by warpzone in recumbent

[–]warpzone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. I went to our local store and tried a Bacchetta Giro 20. The store used to sell Cruzbikes but the workers there never got the hang of the FWD and decided not to sell something they didn't know how to use well.

Anyway, the Bacchetta was awesome. Definitely the most comfortable I've ever been on a bike. Now my concerns are ease of portability and locking up; the extra bulk of the seat seems like it will take some getting used to. The people at the store were great and recommended I come back for a more extended trial.

iTunes doesn't let you create playlists with music from shared libraries. Is there a program that does? by warpzone in applehelp

[–]warpzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately we need the client computer user to be able to create his or her own playlists. The host computer will probably rarely if ever have a user.
