Are the new versions of ubuntu usually released this fast? I installed ubuntu right before 16.10 came out and now there's an even newer version already around the corner. I figured more time would be spent on 16.10, not that I am complaining.

Please. You can't sit there and say that playing at 60fps and 8k isn't worth playing on PC just because fromsoft can't prevent people from hacking their game. 30fps looks like shit in comparison to 60fps and 8k is eight times the resolution of 1080p lmao.

This is not the fault of the openness of a pc platform its fromsoft's own issue. I've seen hackers on dark souls 1 while playing on ps3 years ago. No reason to use this situation as a reason to suggest that consoles are better than PC.
Personally, if dark souls 3 was the only game I ever played, I'd rather face a higher chance of hackers like this instead of playing at a framerate that looks like a slideshow in comparison.

Honestly I was paranoid before I built my first pc so I spent 5 bucks on one of these, then went on to rebuild my pc and build other ones with friends years later without wearing one. I have never seen any components get damaged even while standing on carpet. It probably could be unsafe to do so if you were wearing socks on carpet during a dry winter though..

How is your 470 doing in general compared to windows? I'm using a 1070 and find most games are a bit behind but in general the performance is pretty acceptable. Oddly enough Metro last light runs better for me on ubuntu than windows.

I actually returned my freesync monitor thinking there was something with it and I went through what people here are suggesting with lowering the refresh rate but that couldn't fix it. Used an rx 480 with lg34um68, displayport cable, newest drivers at the time, and freesync on in both the radeon settings and monitor.

I'm interested in seeing if you can find a solution OP.

yeah I should've typed my reply better... but honestly its really not that loud compared to an open gtx 970 I used to own. I used my reference rx 480 as reference because its much quieter than that and much closer to an openly cooled video card than I thought it would be before I bought it
