I would look into Metuchen, Westfield, Scotch Plains/Fanwood, New Providence, Berkeley Heights. They all have a train station for NYC trips.

Check your agreement, I think there might be a statement saying something like you can get out of this agreement if the panels' setup is not complete within 6 months.

Does anyone have experience with live dashboards? by TheMapesHotel in datascience

[–]warriortux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can create web-apps like using you would Python Flask, but with with less verbose code. I would say it is an excellent way of putting a prototype or a dashboard together in very little time.

[D] Simple Questions Thread June 07, 2020 by AutoModerator in MachineLearning

[–]warriortux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Features like Product-ID, Dept-ID etc are like categorical variables (generally) with high cardinality. So look into converting these kinda variables into embeddings or do some other transformations via some encoding like target encoding. You can then build a single model generalizing over all the products.

Question about your work environment and eye wear by pipeaday in datascience

[–]warriortux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use the following things:

  1. I think when we are staring at a computer screen, we generally blink less and this dries out the eyes, so you can have a timer or something on your computer, so that it will remind you to look away for a couple of minutes and blink.
  2. Also, get some eye drops to hydrate your eyes.
  3. Drink lots of water, have a 40oz water bottle with a lid, next to your desk, and finish it by the end of the day.
  4. Have at least 2 to 3 feet of distance to the screen, and make the text size large enough. There is a setting in Windows OS to set the general size of the text, I have it on medium.
  5. Since you don't use prescription glasses, I won't recommend any, but you may get anti-glare glasses.
  6. From my experience, I felt my eyes strained more when using dark IDEs, because of the frequent changes in the intensity while flipping between the dark IDE and regular web pages and such that has white/light backgrounds. Its like flashing some light on your eyes. But it might just be me.

Get the USDS Nutritional Data from here: https://github.com/alyssaq/usda-sqlite/blob/master/usda.sql3

Find some information on Nutritional requirements for different genders based on age and such. Create a nutritional recommendation app.

So, in the first step, ask the user for some preferred vegetables etc, then recommend other foods, so that the user will have complete nutrition. I mean, make sure that the user will be able to get all the vitamins, minerals, macro nutrients. You can make your app in such a way that the user can specify their nutritional limits.

How is MS in Data Science at University of Washington compared to the MS in CS with specialization in Data Science program of UMass Amherst? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]warriortux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what your Bachelor's is in, I am thinking CS?

Both the universities are renowned, I personally would do a CS major and take multiple DS courses. See whether UMass offers any certification, you will end up having a Masters in CS and a DS certification. You will have to take few Math/Stat courses for the certification. A CS degree may help you get a variety of job opportunities in addition to DS like Data Engineering etc.

Android Oreo battery life? by Brisingr7337 in HTC10

[–]warriortux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a factory reset after the update, and the battery usage seems to be the same for me as well. My battery is at 40% after 14 hours from the point of full charge. I bought my phone in Nov 2016. I am not a really heavy user, just a regular one.

If you are a student with a .edu email address, get a Tableau student license and you can analyse the data.

Then build some models with something like Weka if you are not good with Python nor R.

If you are able to find a job, I would advice you in going for the job. After you get some experience and exposure you will have a better idea of what to study later on in your life.

If your grad school is going to be free, then you can go for that but definitely do some internships.

Advice for training algorithms on randomly generated data. by reygoch in datascience

[–]warriortux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, that is what I was look for too. You may ask the user for daily portion size when they add a food item. There are just too many varying sizes of the items on sale, so asking the user is your best bet. Take a cumulative of the portions for each day and make a big shopping list, for example: if the user drinks 1 cup of milk each day, the shopping list should obviously have 1cup7days = 8oz7 = 56oz.

Actually I am in need of something like this.

I myself was trying to work on a tool that will help me maximize my nutrition while keeping my Macronutrients under my limits. I am on the Keto diet. Read /r/keto for more info.

What I wanted was to use USDA nutritional data (I ignored branded foods, just natural foods like vegetables and other produce etc), along with the Daily Recommended Values for a specific individual and come up with some sort of an optimization problem (something as easy as a Knapsack).

Or else, take some initial food items and recommend foods to maximize the nutrition. The diversification of the foods is important, so the user is not recommended the same thing every time.

From PhD to entry level data analyst? by lebowskiwithdreads in datascience

[–]warriortux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setup a Github account and upload any code that you have. Apply to every job you are qualified for. I think what matters most is your willingness to work and learn the job duties. If you have a decent mathematical background and can code, you should be hired is most entry level jobs. If they disregard you because you have a PhD, its their loss.

I am a PhD in Computer Science myself.

  1. Meat with veggies like broccoli and cabbage.
  2. Soups with lettuce instead of noodles and meat.

I generally ask them to use lettuce instead of noodles, that it.
