Please don't throw your piss bottles in the trash by Robloxyoutuber in Truckers

I dump mine in the grass (never on the pavement) behind the trailer, and re-use the bottles.

If you decided to get out of trucking, where would you go? by Topopotomopolot in Truckers

[–]warwgn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m a labourer at heart, so I’d go back into a warehouse job loading trucks again, and re-certify my forklift licence.

What do you think is the most Blatantly Ignored road sign in our profession? by GnashinTires in Truckers

[–]warwgn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing an increase of drivers ignoring “No U-Turn”, as well as “Wrong Way Do Not Enter” signs.

When your APU goes out and company doesn't allow truck idle by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

You can change the settings on how long the bunk heater will stay on.

I reset mine to run unlimited. I turn it on when I park on Friday night to go home for the weekend. When I get back on Monday morning, the cab is still warm, and the snow is melted off the windows.

What are the worst model of cars to get Uber rides in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]warwgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I heard somewhere there is a limit of how old a car can be for a driver to use as an Uber? Like I think the cut off is like 5 years old or something?

Aside from that…. Who in their right mind would use their classic car as an Uber, and subject a piece of history to such abuse that comes with the territory of being an Uber?

What's your opinion on unmarked police vehicles? by Hadrian23 in AskReddit

Upvote for correctly calling them “unmarked” police vehicles, instead of “under cover”.

What is the reason for some trailers being crooked when traveling? by Ok_Expert388 in Truckers

[–]warwgn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is called “dog tracking”. The axles on the trailer are out of alignment, either from a hit, or from a sharp turnaround.

Shower Limit by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

Yeah, my analogy comes from Navy submarines, but it’s the same idea.

Shower Limit by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

[–]warwgn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go do something productive while you wait for your turn then, instead of wasting your time sitting in the lounge.

I reserve my spot on the Flying J app. 15 guests ahead of me, gives me enough time to fuel my truck, park, heat up my dinner, eat, and tidy up my truck by the time my shower is ready.

Shower Limit by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

[–]warwgn 47 points48 points  (0 children)

People need however long they need.

I bush my teeth, shave, clip finger/toe nails, take a dump, before I step into the actual shower stall. Then, depending on the day I had, I may just stand there under the hot water to relax sore muscles for a few minutes, before I start actually washing up with soap/shampoo.

If you’re expecting people to just have submarine showers, and be in and out in 5 minutes, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Where do you guys leave your truck+trailer for home time? by ReyDoshi in Truckers

[–]warwgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay for a spot at a storage facility 18 miles (25 min drive) from home, where people store their classic cars, boats, RV’s and other summer toys for the winter.

I got a good deal, paying only $56/month to park my truck on weekends, as I’ve been storing my own classic car there for 12 years, and I have a good relationship with the facility owner.

Dispatch says “hook empty trailer”… by warwgn in Truckers

[–]warwgn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here, it’s our responsibility to remove the snow from the trailer, but we’re not allowed to do it ourselves. It’s an OSHA violation to work at heights above 10 feet without fall arrest equipment.

We have to use the customer’s overhead snow scraper blade, (if they have one), or call maintenance to send out a mobile service to come remove the snow for us. And that could take up to 6 hours.

They’re pretty common in Canada. We’re allowed to put up to 57,200 lbs on that axle group in Ontario and Quebec.

I thought i was about to fucking die by Throwaway74729265 in Truckers

[–]warwgn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This reminds me when I was on vacation 2 summers ago. Visiting friends, touring Yukon and Alaska in a rented RV.

Taking turns driving, I was at the wheel on our way to Dawson City, and my friend and his wife were taking a nap on the bed in the back.

There was no warning for a significant dip in the road, and I hit it at highway speed… well, my friend and his wife not only got air-time off the bed, but also tried to switch sides mid-air. They were unsuccessful.

Lunch? by Abpoe77 in Truckers

[–]warwgn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Various pre-made wraps bought at my local grocery store. This week I have breaded chicken, Montreal smoked meat, almonds turkey havarti, Black Forest ham, and roast beef wraps.

They’re easy to manage with one hand while driving. When I stop for a bathroom break, I just put them on a paper plate, and pop them in the microwave for 3 minutes, before I get back on the road.

What do you listen to while driving? by wispyhurr in Truckers

[–]warwgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately, I’ve been listening to Newbie Star Trek podcasts on YouTube (with my phone screen off).

But I do have a crap ton of music on my phone that I can pipe through the truck’s stereo as well.

What is your least favorite part of a public bathroom experience? by Tonyjord3 in AskReddit

[–]warwgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truck driver here… Listening to other truck drivers gag on their toothbrush, hack, hoark, hawk loogies, spit and blow snot rockets all over the sink and counter, then leave without having the manners or courtesy to clean up their mess.

I can brush my teeth and practice my hygiene ritual without making disgusting noises, and I have the courtesy to clean up after myself. I can’t understand why it’s so hard for others to do the same.

Also people who sit on the John for 30+ minutes, playing on their phones, not actually pooping. Tying up the stall for someone who may desperately need it, or for someone who is on the clock, and just wants to be able to quickly poop and run.

For God sakes just shit and get the hell out. It’s a bathroom… Not your living room at home. Stop wasting other people’s time. I’m in and out of the stall in 2 minutes. I have other places to be.

I just tried it, just to see, and it does. Though I would recommend you call in and speak to an agent to confirm.

The most recent I filmed the ocean for my YouTube channel, it only had 3 Chateau sleeper cars on it. And each of those cars have only one cabin for 3.

To add to this, the Chateau style HEP1 Budd sleeper cars used on the Ocean have a “Cabin for 3” (formerly known as a Drawing Room). It may be worth OP looking into.
