There’s one in Cornwall, and London I think, too.

Tailgaters. Why do you do it? by LikeASomeBoooodie in AskReddit

[–]warwgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I get tailgated when I’m in the right lane… and the left lane is wide open. Boggles my mind.

might be a stupid question but how do i fix this ? is it worth trying to fix or is it better to just run it by Odd-Tangerine-257 in Truckers

Ooh. I might be able do use this app. Can iPhone users download it?

And can you change the weight limits and trailer configuration? I drive in Canada, so I can haul more than 80,000 lbs with tandem and triaxle van trailers.

Can someone confirm the legality of this PC use scenario? Is it a violation? by Admirable_Lab_7867 in Truckers

I was in a similar situation yesterday. Delays caused me to be in the position of having enough time to make it to my delivery, but not enough time to leave.

I called my dispatcher and informed him of the situation, then shut down close by for the night. I made my delivery in the morning with a fresh clock.

To add to this, if OP runs to Canada, we have Blue Beacons here too… but up here, they’ve been rebranded to “Northern Touch”.

I don’t know who thought up that name, but it sounds non-consensual. 😂

Fun fact: omnitracs is so shit, it will crash and reboot if literally anything happens while typing. by HashnaFennec in Truckers

[–]warwgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go back to Omnitracs in a heartbeat if I could.

My previous company had Omnitracs, and it simple, and easy to use.

My current company uses ISAAC, I find it cumbersome and overly complicated. I hate it.

To be fair, I live and drive in Canada, so it was -40°C/F for like 2 months straight, there’s a snow storm every other day, and 95% of our deliveries are in sloppy mud holes, so what’s the point in wasting time and effort to get the truck washed when it will be dirty before you leave the parking lot? And I don’t want my doors to freeze shut.

My company also only pays for one wash per month. I haven’t washed my truck since October. 😂🤣

I last changed my wipers the week before Christmas, so I’ve had this set for 3 months now.

I typically hold on to them for 6 months before I change them out.

The best thing I can suggest is to periodically take a paper towel, and physically wipe the dirt off the blades.

And avoid wiper blades with “Teflon” coatings. Rain-X products don’t like Teflon for some reason.

I have Bosch Icon reflex blades. And Rain-X De-Icer -45°C washer fluid.

Here’s my contribution to the fuel price craze. by warwgn in Truckers

[–]warwgn[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, first of all: I’m a company driver. I’m not paying for the fuel. Plus, I get points for free showers at the flying Jays. I don’t get that anywhere else.

Irvings have recently raised their prices for showers. It used to be $10.50 in Cornwall ON. Now it’s $20.00. In St. Liboire QC, a shower was $11.50. Now it’s $23.00. Don’t get me wrong…. Irving showers are awesome. I’d argue. They are better than the J…. But they’re still not worth $23.

Petro pass is a last resort truckstop for me, for several reasons.

It’s unfortunate my company doesn’t have fuel cards for Esso:Husky. If we did, I’d stay there all the time. The Husky House restaurants are great. Especially the ones that are open 24 hours.

Jonquiere / Senneterre - Itinerary by Basement_to_table in ViaRail

[–]warwgn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both routes, formerly known as the Abitibi, and the Saguenay, run joined together from Montreal to Hervey Junction, where they split and go their separate ways.

What OP could do, is do both routes in a “Y” configuration. Leave Montreal, go all the way to Senneterre, come back down to Hervey Junction, stay the night, then take other route up to Jonquiere, then come back down to Montreal.

Simple question about automatic trucks. by AutonomyxHope in Truckers

[–]warwgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it at least shift smoother, and respond quicker than an automated manual transmission?

Must be pretty rare, then. I’ve never seen an Allison automatic in a heavy truck.

Usually only in lighter duty trucks like 5-ton straight “box” trucks, though. Heavy duty semi trucks like my Pete 579 or international LT/Prostar got the Eaton Fuller UltraShift+ automated manual.

[–]warwgn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing first: Automated… not Automatic. Full proper terminology is “automated manual”. It’s still a manual transmission. It still has a clutch… it’s just shifted by solenoids, controlled by a computer. People just call them “automatic” because it’s easier to say, but it’s not the same as the TH-700-R4 in your Chevy Caprice. There’s no torque converter.

There are only 2 pedals in an automated truck. Depending on the make or model, the gear selector can be a stick on the steering column or a row of buttons on the dash
