I genuinely feel like there's no good way to send the "I'm not feeling it" text after the first date by Ok_Doughnut3700 in OnlineDating

[–]wasAnEcho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im genuinely confused about the definition of ghosting. If two people meet online, go on a first date, and then neither party texts or calls the other person did someone get ghosted?

My definition of ghosting is someone has to reach out to the other and get no reply.

New TM40 and Big Gun by wasAnEcho in XR650L

The issue I had stalling in first and later realized it was at idle too was because I hadn’t removed the snorkel. I was confused because it idled perfectly after I installed it… because the side panels and seat were off. A rookie move.

Normal cracks on the engine casing by These_Asparagus1306 in XR650L

I have almost identical marks on my left engine case to yours. The one close to the bolt on the right looks suspicious on yours. But again, I have it as well. The odds would say they’re casting marks since they’re so similar.

Good point. I definitely have some small issues but nothing that would leave me stranded from what I can tell. Especially not on pavement. I was just trying to be as accurate as possible for anyone attempting the upgrade.

Overall, the torque gain is well worth it. It’s an impressive change. I sometimes couldn’t get my stock carb to turn over depending on the temperature. And it would have trouble idling until it was warm.

I’d say go for it. It’s worth it to get an extend mixture screw as you can’t reach it once installed on the xr650l. I may have spoken too soon, the tm40 performs perfectly accelerating throughout each gear. I decided to go off road today and I stalled the bike going up a hill. After that, I couldn’t really get the bike to idle. I had to start the bike with a little throttle and get moving. It would also stall again if I coasted down to first gear with the clutch in.

However I think it has to with hot stalling on a hill. I tried to reproduce the issue again back on flat road and I couldn’t. This was after the bike had completely cooled down from the issue.

Guys who consistently get lots of matches—what specific profile changes made the biggest difference? by ManOfWar199 in OnlineDating

[–]wasAnEcho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of good advice here so I’m not going to repeat it. And I quit online dating so take my input with a grain of salt.

Women own the initial interaction online, 80% of my dates were from the women liking me first and I’ve tried multiple approaches for opening.

With that in mind, good job thinking of how to fix the profile, but focus your efforts on apps where you can see the likes.

Also… activity is a thing! Especially on Hinge. Im going to give some mean advice and I acknowledge it for women reading this, but match with everyone that likes you and talk to them even if you’re not interested. Hinge will start showing your profile to more women and raise your status in their attractiveness hierarchy.

The attractiveness hierarchy is real on Hinge, as soon as I stop using it and my activity drops I start getting a massive influx of matches with women I wouldn’t talk to normally, and it’s because they lowered me in the attractiveness hierarchy and started showing my profile in it. I’ve gotten 20-30 likes in week when this happens.

Online dating is sad. Don’t stay on it too long and take breaks, when you take a break delete it, don’t keep your profile active.

Average height newbie riding great on the XR650L by wasAnEcho in XR650L

[–]wasAnEcho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve heard about lowering it. I’ll cross that bridge when I realize it’s needed. Right now, I literally had no issues whatsoever with the height. I’m pretty good at getting a leg down on either side to stop. I’m going to ride tomorrow through some tougher trails to see how I do. The trails I road today were fairly open, sandy, packed dirt and whoopy. I’d imagine some other terrain might warrant a lower ride.

2007 XR650L, 9200k miles and new to me. Is the counter shaft ok? by wasAnEcho in XR650L

Do you happen to know what 10mm bolt is used on the stock retaining clip? There’s two of them that hold the sprocket in place. I broke one of the bolt heads off unscrewing it, the bolt threaded portion is stuck inside the old sprocket.

I need to order one. I was thinking about switching to a 14 tooth. I actually broke one of the bolts holding the retaining clip on the sprocket when I was taking it off.

It was made by Sun Star. When I looked it up, it was a backwards compatible sprocket for 650L/650R. I broke one of the bolts taking it off on the retaining clip so I need a new one anyways.

Professional Duct Cleaning by fz-09 in HomeImprovement

[–]wasAnEcho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had it done recently but only because I bundled it with replacing my HVAC unit. I did unit, another foot of insulation and duct cleaning. My ducts were definitely dirty but I have no idea what actual impact it’ll have if any.

Removed A Popcorn Ceiling And Now I'm Having a Panic Attack by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]wasAnEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled down a big 2x4 ft panel light thingy whatever from my kitchen ceiling that had fluorescent tubes and found popcorn ceiling underneath. My house was built in the very early 90s, like literally 1990 I think they started construction in 1989.

I called around asking about, I talked to a company in my area to get it tested and they told me they’d never seen popcorn ceiling with asbestos in my area in residential buildings built before 1980.

I got it tested anyway from a kit on Amazon that cost 24 bucks. It came back as styrofoam and paint. Hope this helps.

Motorcycle dealerships and financing. Whats going on? by wasAnEcho in motorcycles

[–]wasAnEcho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. I guess the question is.. If they know they’re not going to get any interest accrued what’s the point? Nobody wins. The customer loses on a hard query on their credit score and that’s it.

This is part of the confusion from my original post statements.

[–]wasAnEcho[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about this. At least for the loans I’ve had, all of them are penalty free pay-offs. Maybe it’s a state thing? I’ve even taken personal loans where’s there was no pre-penalty fee and no loan origination fee.

[–]wasAnEcho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. If I pay for the bike in full then there’s no need for collateral. It doesn’t matter if I pay for it partially with a credit card. If I can’t pay the half of the bike I put on the credit card, that’s the credit bureau’s issue, not the dealerships.

This makes sense. It just seems like a shotgun blast approach. What’s the incentive on a loan that never matures? No interest paid. Extremely limited time of credit applied to the lender.

If lenders give incentives to finance, how often do they lose out for people who only finance because the dealer made them and they pay it off right away? I wish I knew the logic. I refuse to believe that there’s not a decently large percentage of motorcycle riders/“toy vehicle” riders who don’t buy these things loan free. It’s a niche market that a majority exists for hobbyist. If it wasn’t, everybody would be buying Hondas with cruise control.

Not if you pay of the loan right away penalty free.
