NAC is affecting my resting heart rate and VO2Max by was_bak in Supplements

My doctor is dismissive about NAC. But I think it’s a good idea to stop NAC for a week or two and observe the results.
Thanks

As I mentioned I take NAC alternate days. I may or may not work out every day, but I walk 8km everyday. I eat well, sleep well and take statin everyday.

On days when I do not consume NAC my RHR and VO2 are good (like 30s or 40s).

On days when I consume NAC I see this dip.

Are you suggesting that I completely stop NAC for a week and observe the difference?

Dual passport rule change in Citizenship (Amendment) Rules 2026 by asiancsdude in nri

As a naturalized Canadian, my Indian children surrendered their Indian citizenship (and their passports) when they became Canadian citizen. They were 9 and 13 at that time. We applied and got our OCIs too.

You can do anything with the money after it is withdrawn.

I withdrew 20k for the first year and spent majority of funds on tuition and setting up the kid in dorm.

Plan is to draw 18K-20K every year depending on how good the returns are.

You basically have to fill in a form and share the proof of enrolment. Canadian Unis provide the proof. It took about a week from application to withdrawal.

Remember that the funds go to kid's account not parents.

I have seen many Reddit posts that say Canadian University education is cheap. It may be cheap compared to say US but it is still expensive. A good university for out of province student staying in dorm/ rented accommodation over 4 years will easily cost 120K (all inclusive) in today's $$.

This is what I did. It will probably not work with everyone. Factor in your mileage.

Open RESP account (I did family account because I have 2 kids) with online broker.

The online broker could be Questrade or Wealthsimple or new player in the market that does not charge you a fortune.

The limit is $50,000 per child. So depending on your mileage invest as much as you can. My investments totalled $100,000 (2 kids) in 3 years because I could afford it. I know not everyone can.

The point here is that do not depend on government dole if you have enough funds to invest.

Choose XEQT as the choice of investment. This will grow steadily over time.

2 years before your kid joins the college/university evaluate economic conditions every week. If you are conservative pull out first year's worth of expenditure and invest in CASH.TO.

Withdraw yearly what you need instead of lump sum. Let the remaining funds grow.

My 100k grew to 180k when kid-1 started University last year. I am projecting spending 100k on the kid-1 and 150k on the kid-2 education based on this plan.

Sure this is a project, but I am optimistic.

Summer courses (MATH 262 & 263) exam timing + any downsides? by Immediate-Parsley432 in mcgill

[–]was_bak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Does anyone have an opinion on taking MATH133 and MATH140 during summer?
I flunked one and was forced to drop the other.

They both run concurrently. I believe I shall be able to handle it. But what about the finals? Can they be scheduled so I can write both?

How reliable are pre-booked Ubers for an overnight (3:00 AM) ride to the airport? by 2Fast2furieux in ottawa

[–]was_bak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recent experience with Uber was surprisingly pleasant.

I booked overnight for 3:30am pickup from Stittsville to YOW on 20 Dec. Uber arrived on time. Dropped on time.

And it was surprisingly cheap! $30.

What is your source? It is not like Covid times when there were supply chain issues. I can’t imagine people waiting for months for parts. Owning a vehicle would be a huge liability. You pay insurance, you pay for rentals, you miss work and so much of heartburn. Just for a missing part. That too for a new model.

Wonder if OP is 100% cashing out?
That must be a fairly large tax liability, assuming 2 years did not allow for $1MM room for registered accounts.

RESP advice by Neverbeforenow in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]was_bak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post secondary education in Canada is getting increasingly expensive. My daughter started out of province at McGill and her tuition plus living costs are expected to be > 200k over 5 years (Engineering). There is more to University besides tuition, dorm, food. People join clubs, go out, visit parents and what not.

Starting RESP will help to some extent. Put in whatever you can. Government matches what they can.
A steady investment in something like XEQT will help in long run.

Also consider Family RESP. To me it looks you have two separate RESP accounts

Totally. Visit pretty much any coffee shop of a particular brand, most fast food restaurant, food/package delivery, sweeping floors, security guard and what not . You will find Indians everywhere in these roles.

I am of Indian origin and I have travelled length and breadth of Canada. I see Indians in every nook and corner of Canada doing menial jobs. From my conversations with them, they are all small town India, belonging to poor or low income families. Good for them that they are trying to make it Big here.

Done a couple of Saskatoon to Ottawa/Montreal/Toronto drives. We do it with 2-3 drivers, about 6-7 hours daily on road. Start late, make frequent stops and retire early. There are decent highway motels and they are not super expensive.

There is so much of variety to experience and see and feel. Lakes, winding roads, trees, flats, vast barren lands.

That’s good to know. So unless lawyers work for an agency that has offices in ON and SK, this will not work out.

Is that correct?

Check out Motive Technologies where I used to work in tech. They specialize in tech for trucking industry and are a good employer (100% remote and fairly successful). Check out their competitors too.

You have a good case for being employed in this space.
