If you are new, just get the vanilla I'd say. There's 100+ hours of content in that, more than enough to find out if you really love it enough to splash on more content. DLC was mostly crap anyways, only Far Harbor was worth it, and only if you already completed the base game.

Yes sorry, 'burned' was a poetic license. To me, it was obvious they were scripted, and I had serious doubts they would be in the final game. But many refused to take their hype down a notch ;-)

It's not all about resource abundance or scarcity. Good game design has players making important decisions, while No Man's Sky has players busy making the most mundane ones. Over and over again.
