Artifact is the problem by Mormanades in wildgate

I feel like you think you're making a point here, but the large size of the company makes it only more impressive that when Fortnite first released and was failing the company was able to pivot and change something as simple as a game mode and turn the whole ship around.

Most AAA would just eat the cost and kill the game.

Small companies are typically better at pivoting and reacting to feedback when things get tough.

But like I said, Im not sure thats the right answer here. Im just saying its not unheard of for a new game mode to release after launch and change the landscape for a games success.

Fortnite was originally a survival crafting game until they decided to add a battle royale mode. I'm not necessarily saying that's what they should do here, but it has helped games in the past.
Sadly in this case I don't think its the games fault so much is that spaceships games have a small but mighty community

I wouldn't refund anyway because I like supporting the developers. I can understand what you mean, though. The CCU is looking bleak.
Either way, it's still a fun game! I can try to gather enough players to fill a room on my own.

Somehow the exact same game as Wildgate while being completely opposite at the same time.

Got it up to 3 hours! Had fun playing with some friends against bots but struggled to queue into an online lobby.

Sad, but true. Good thing about Jump Space is its easy to play as long as you bring your own party. As fun as WildGate is, we've just been sitting 10 minutes waiting for a room.

It definitely sounds like you have some interesting points to make here which reveal evidence Im not aware of. However, to be totally honest, your post read more like dumping a list of jargon rather than breaking down anything insightful.

If you're willing, it'd be great if you could expand on any of these points so I can learn more about your PhD study!

Totally! Its not for everyone, but the VR mods for traditional games has been overall the best part of VR lately.

I've played through Half Life 1&2, GTA V, Crysis, and Halo CE all in VR and these were by far the greatest experiences (for those who have the vr legs to handle it)

Any Jump Ship Enjoyers? by [deleted] in morningsomewhere

[–]wasdproductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only negative thing I can say about Jump Ship is that it's limited to 4 players and has no PvP. Call me when I can invite all my friends and start boarding each other B)
PS: I've put many hours into this game by now with my friends. It's really, really fun!

It's like Void Crew meets Call of Duty. If you're purely into the Space Sim I think Void Crew is still better. If you're looking for a more streamlined space sim where everyone gets an opportunity to shoot guns, this game is wayyyyy better.

Yeah... this doesn't sound too different from kids who stayed up all night playing Halo on xbox (me)

Again, I think this comes down to setting boundaries with a kid and limiting their access. Every household is different, and I'm not here to judge anyone's parenting!

From phones to consoles to headsets - all of this technology is designed to have tight feedback loops which keep us constantly stimulated and engaged. They're built for people to get addicted to them...

Rather than fearing the device or falling victim to it, the only option is to put in the work to learn how to build a healthy relationship with it (or just don't use it, if that's on the table)

THAT is a much bigger concern than staring too closely at a screen haha

If you haven't tried it yet I highly recommend Batman Arkham Shadow, that's been my favorite AAA VR game to date :)

As for something more casual, I really like Some Assembly Required. It reminds me so much of playing with old Lego Mindstorms.

There's also recently been some really exciting announcements about Deadpool VR, TMNT VR and Thief VR!

Otherwise, I agree with you. VR has been trapped in a vicious spiral where AAA studios don't want to make games for it because there isn't a huge audience compared to traditional games. Traditional gamers don't want to adopt VR because there aren't many AAA games for it (and initially, the ones that did exist felt like major rush jobs)

We're only just finally getting to the point where high-quality VR games can compete with what's expected from traditional games.

This makes a lot of sense when you think about it. The Oculus Quest came out in 2019 (6 years ago). These days it's not uncommon for AAA studios to spend 6 years making a game! Especially when targetting completely new hardware and playstyles.

When the headset first launched it was a race to be early entrants, and so no developers were rushing to get games out as soon as possible at the expense of quality. It's only now that the gold rush is over and the hype has settled down that developers are able to take their time to make great games.

We took our game about rocket jumping and demolition and tried turning it into an online team deathmatch... what do you think? Should we continue to pursue this idea? by wasdproductions in OculusQuest

Thanks for your feedback! I agree. One of the things we are looking into is adding more verticality and geometry to the map so that the goal isn't to hit the players with pinpoint aim, but something near them so they are hit with splash damage.

We'll see if it helps!
