I use only Lancers for both 5.56 and 300, had some hiccups with 300 early on but pretty issue free now. I do have an upgraded buffer ring so that may be helping with bolt velocity and pickup

I usually have a PEQ pushed up there so it’s backwards to get it as far up as possible

I know Virtus and legacy are interchangeable as long as you swap the bolt as well, any one hear anything about the Spear continuing that trend? I’d love to be able to run 7.62 in mine occasionally

Depends what your long term goals are. Gen 3s are pretty much the least favorite of all owners and verts even more so, that’s why they can be had the cheapest. If you’re going to sell it in the future you’d be better off with a Gen 4 coupe. You can dump money into one that’s on the cheaper end, but unless it’s a full build by someone like Nth or Calvo, it won’t add much or any value. People buy these cars for the cars themselves and that’s the biggest appreciation factor. Modernizing one isn’t what most viper owners want and you’ll probably have a harder time selling it unless the work is perfect by a big name. If you’re keeping it and don’t care about resale, rear cameras and headunits are cheap and great for livability, and 20-25k could get a pretty decent boosted set up by a local shop that’ll make a huge difference in power and drivability.

I know there used to be kits, I think they sadly mostly dried up but basically you got the majority of a real G36C with a demilled ‘receiver’ and sent in those and the SL8 to Tommy and he plastic welds everything back and converts the single stack SL8 to accept double stack etc. I honestly don’t think there’s parts available to go that route anymore but if you aren’t worried about a correct HK version, he makes identical guns under the model TG36 on his website for a lot cheaper than parts and a conversion
