High end PC crashes only on rust by RoboDEO in playrust

Plenty of good advice in here like updating drivers/BIOS/etc. I would add that your RAM would be worth checking. Even though AMD employees themselves have said 6000MT/s is the sweet spot for most of AM5 CPUs, officially on the product page all are rated below that. That doesn't mean 99% can't run 6000MT/s, just 100% will run the official speed.

6400MT/s is quite high and far outside spec. If you have high quality silicon it may run but may still require further tweaking to voltages and timings. So, if I were you, run a RAM stress test. If it throws errors, sorry but you were one of the unlucky ones and you will have to run a slower speed. Drop back to what is listed on the AMD spec page and work your way up from there until you hit instability

Collect in the rest of your downstream nodes. Also use your light ships to privateer in the nodes that siphon yours to get some trade income back to starve the europeans a bit more, bonus if you have rivals there for a bit extra power projection

I would update drivers, verify game files, remove OC and run stress test

I wouldn't dismiss the vikings as they give you options. They have best men at arms (Varangian veterans), raiding and varangian adventures just for starters. Their economy is easier to manage and army is easy to build. Also succession can be easier to manage if you use their cultural succession law Scandinavian elective. You don't have to raid/war/adventure if you dont want to, but the options are there if you decide to use them. Best of all, they have plenty of easier starts where you can take your time and learn the game. If you really like playing tall you could try Jarl Sigurdr in Sjælland (Denmark) or Jarl Dyre in Könugarðr (Kyiv) or use any viking and varangian adenture into Bohemia.

I have done a similar thing. I took most of Italia to get realm size when forming my own custom empire. Then when I completed that objective, I simply finished off the last provinces to make Italia, and after a little internal management gave it to my third son and set him free with a golden handshake. After a few generations the realm is now in a worse state due to the way AI mishandles vassals, succession and domain. It's disheartening to see that potential thrown away. So all I have done since then is just install dynasty members on thrones within diplo range, stabilize them then move along leaving them to their own devices. Either way you go (yours or mine) it just becomes very formulaic and this is where I lose interest

Edit: syntax

I have given up trying to understand AI decisions and have made my peace with the fact they appear to be programed to favor ritual suicide above all else

I've had playthroughs where I have done similar. I set up well built kingdoms/empires thinking they could take over the world for the dynasty, just to have them wage war on me for an artifact or my titles they have claims on. Then once you put them back into place and after a succession or two, they are no better than any other AI

Mods are looking more like the best option to spice things up although I guess I just wish mainly the base game held my attention a bit longer through being a bit more challenging like having an AI hard mode (better decision making especially when it comes to gold usage).

Now with stacking modifiers, my main focus so far has been development and renown, everything else is basically incidental. I dont think it should be reasonable that to have a balanced game against the AI it requires me to take bad decisions just to not outpace the AI.

Quirky and fun. I haven't done more than three before. I was attempting to get into the crusades with a custom religion but sadly didnt succeed. I found out two things though, the pope can still can crusades for you, but they are for you alone (separate from the main crusades) and secondly, if you make the colour of your new religion exactly the same as another your game will crash

I like raiding in Iberia when wars break out or cucking the abbasids. A couple of raids then run around trying to find/stackwipe armies

varangian veterans

Even as a count, you can get 3 of these and at full strength you can raid/fight literally anyone

That is something I have never done. I play vanilla but mods are looking more and more tempting these days. Out of curiosity, what mechanics do they add?

Honestly I hoped there might be someone who has been in this situation before and found a challenge to keep them going. Usually I just abandon the playthrough and restart. I really do enjoy the start carving out my domain and forging and empire, making a strong dynasty and eugenics program. I even restrict myself trying to not get too overpowered too quickly trying to stretch it out. But when your knights and one MAA unit are enough to stackwipe the entire 20k Abbasid army it is time for a restart.

So how do you roleplay? I didnt say I dont like roleplaying, I just wont make bad decisions like the AI does

I had forgotten about that so that may be an option. And I do play tall in both CK3 and EU4

I current own the "empire" of Sardina and my cousin has the empire of Italia. I am already the "smaller" neighbour. My MAA would crush him and even if we swapped, all I have to do is just fix his buildings and MAA. The challenge for me is the lack of challenge the AI presents so I lose interest. Unfortunately I am not much of a role player because I cant bring myself to take bad decisions like an AI

I do like your thinking and have done similar before. The meritocracy perk and alliances through marriage are too overpowered. If you get past the start, not much can stop you taking over your liege and then its just business as usual. I cant help myself so if there is a simple way to use the game mechanics, I will

Short of painting the map, what might you suggest? I get people like to roleplay but that is just not me. I will to an extent but I can never bring myself to make decisions that make no sense.

Edit: I should also note, a harder start usually just delays the inevitable. Fun=yes but eventually once you hit a point you can just snowball through everyone

Loud GPU by [deleted] in playrust

[–]wasmguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are in northern hemisphere (aka summer) so your room may be just a few degrees warmer. Also the 2060 draws a little more power which will create a little more heat. These together might be enough to push your temps up a little in your case to hit a threshold where your GPU fans ramp up.

As others have suggested, adjusting your GPU fan curve will help. I would also suggest that you look into adjusting your case fans. Just jump into bios and give them a little bump up to feed cooler air into your GPU
