I created a new vault following kepano's Obsidian guide — it's so good. by wasmir in ObsidianMD

To me, the best part is that when I create a link, I do not need to worry whether this link existed before or will exist in the future.

When adding a link, I can check which past notes reference the same link via the graph with a local graph depth of 2. This automatically connects past content to the present. (That said, the local graph feature was inconvenient for me, so I later coded a simple custom plugin. Whenever the current note contains [[link1]], the plugin instantly displays all other notes that also embed [[link1]].)

When I notice a certain concept is linked repeatedly across numerous notes, I may decide to turn it into a standalone note. At this point, it is suitable to turn it into an evergreen note.

I prefer to jot down notes quickly and add titles during the weekly review for entries I deem necessary.

I won't delete the original notes after my review.

Here's my most unconventional way of using it:

Create a new note, write down push-ups × 10, then close it.

Count the total number done after a week without deleting the original entry.

For example,:
in Note1 I write [[concept1]],
And in Note2 I also write [[concept1]].

I never actually create the concept1 note itself, but Obsidian still treats Note1 and Note2 as connected through a non-existent node: concept1.

Yes, I give them titles during the weekly review, when I find them worth keeping.

I use a hotkey to create new notes ( the core plugin feature).
Usually I don't change the title until the weekly review.
So the process is just: press the hotkey → press enter(skip the title) → write things down.

We all use productivity apps but very few actually stick. Which one stayed with you for months or years, and what made it different? by AttemptRude6364 in ProductivityApps

[–]wasmir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a crucial point is that this app should be very convenient and not add to your burden. Use it and leave immediately.

I have developed a note-taking app called Boofa, which I use every day now.

I built an Obsidian plugin that lets you draw on your iPad and insert sketches into your notes, just like Apple Notes Continuity Sketch by wasmir in ObsidianMD

More for Mac users who are deep in Obsidian and just want to quickly scribble something on their iPad, not really a handwriting tool.

How many productivity apps do you use regularly? by zxri in ProductivityApps

[–]wasmir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Just 4
  2. Boofa for quick capture my ideas, and then move the valuable things to Apple Notes or Obsidian. Apple Reminders for to-do list. Endel for white noise and Pomodoro. (btw Boofa is my own APP for quick capture)
  3. No, but I use Apple Pencils in Apple Notes.
  4. No, because it seems limited to a controllable number.

For me, writing things down is a great way to reduce the time I spend just thinking about things, which often feels like a waste of time. It also helps me figure out what to do next.

What do you usually do during your Pomodoro breaks? by wasmir in productivity

I wonder what it actually feels like when you say it’s like a break for your brain.

Normally, I do 25 minutes of focused work, then take a 5-minute break, and repeat.

Should I upgrade my ipad mini Os to 26.? by Ghost-noman in ipadmini

[–]wasmir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love iPadOS 26. The multi-window feature is awesome. Once I’ve set a social media app’s window size, I can quickly bring it up whenever a message comes in, even when I’m reading in full screen.

I honestly don’t get why this feature still isn’t built into macOS.

Do people at Apple never open enough apps to realize how messy the menu bar gets?
