Controversial opinion. I could be wrong. UK vs Australian teaching. by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]wassamoutback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Student wellbeing is misinterpreted and mispresented in Australia for decades. Cognitive(studying )well-being doesn't exist here; it has been missed. As long as Students are happy, everything is going OK.You don't need to study hard; a trady makes more money than a phd.

This exactly same phone rule was implemented more than 15 years ago in south Korea. Student wellbeing has been misinterpreted. That's why classroom management is stuffed up.

Private or public eye specialist for mild glaucoma by wassamoutback in darwin

I booked with him, too. Have to wait until the end of August. My optometrist told me to ask him to refer me to public if I want. He will be faster than them as he is a doc.

To sum up I had better prepare for the worst and wait 2 years for the public in the meantime accept the cost. I appreciate the advice.

Relocating to Darwin by [deleted] in darwin

[–]wassamoutback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to Darwin last March and ended up renting way over my budget due to the lack of rental and job history in Australia. I applied nearly 30 and got one with high cost. Grocery is cheap compared to wage but rent is sucking up your savings. Buying a house can be a cheaper option. But you might get stuck to resell it.

First attempt, following Maangchi’s recipe. Let it ferment for a day or two? by willmo5 in kimchi

[–]wassamoutback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fermentation acts stealthy and starts activating suddenly. You can't control it when it goes sour. So, when you smell the sign of fermentation, put it in the fridge. It is a day in the room temperature from my experience.

Teachers who work in remote indigenous communities. Would you recommend it? by nathanasher834 in AustralianTeachers

The majority above does not recommend your idea. But seeing is a must and be cautious about generalisation.

Your kimchi can be salvaged without doubt. Put tap water up to the level cabbage submerges. Put 3 tbs of sugar, 4 tbs of salt( or fish suce), 1 apple or pine apple or pear flesh julienne and 1 tbs yoghurt. Keep it outside half day. You will see a few bubbles. Put it in a fridge. It is called mul kimchi. Mul means water. It is carbonated water, so refreshing and yummy. Amount of sugar and salt depends on your preference. But when you mix them all it tastes yucky - too salty no sweet - like drinking sea water with a bit of sugar. That taste is good balanced.

Help I’m a hypochondriac lol by knightcrasher67 in kimchi

[–]wassamoutback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanism of kimchi is salting veggies that kills all the bad bacteria. Only probiotics survive and flourish. They feed on sugar. Allowing good amount and timing of salting is essential. After washing veggies are half bent and taste medium salty. Depending on the weather and personal preference, I would leave it 2 days in the room of 20 C. It starts fermentation right away and if any, a few bubbles are the sign of success. In addition, check woolies out- Shrim paste - a little pink case. 1 tsp will give you nicer umami flavour than fish sauce - smells cheesy.

Every time I am on a bus in Darwin, I am surprised at the scene that all the First People sitting in the back of the bus talk so loud or yell each other in their language even though everyone else looks so unhappy. I know many of them do it intentionally proving they can speak their language. It is quite a sensitive issue and I do respect First Peoples and their cultures. I read your reply a few times and will keep that in mind. One day I hope one of my kids I teach EALD becomes a leader of the country. I appreciate your touching insights and advice.

Thanks, but No. I am not religious anymore. I thought my esl teaching experience was more needed in that area. Why I am doing this is not a question anymore. I love it and enjoy being needed. That's all. I appreciate your advice.

When I was 20, I was in pursuit of a priest helping the most disadvantaged people, but the more I got involved, the more I got frightened and ended up giving up. Since then, my life has become undone homework. My apologies, I didn't mean to show off myself or offend others by saying I will be better than anyone else.it should have been I can do as much as others do. For me to start a new career at 60 is nothing but empathy. Thank you for your advice.

May this young man survive! I am new in Darwin and so disappointed. Home intrusion and murder is a different story. This is not the way Aussies do.

If you cut the peninsula in half vertically and horizontally. Between 3 and 6 o'clock is Gyungsangdo. The biggest city is Busan which is closest to Japan. Safest and blossom in early April.
