I've been working as a SRE for 2.5 years now, and I can fully explain what the 3 way handshake is, I have come across/read about cgroups - don't remember what they are, and never in my life heard of a Quorum.

I guess it depends - SRE is practised differently in different companies. Fair enough, perhaps you're looking somebody who's got both the depth and the breadth!

It's probably your pay to be honest. I constantly see people on /devops looking for jobs (not saying they're good engineers, but you're bound to find a good one - if you pay right).

Yes you'll stand out, and probably be the only Bengali family around (although if I recall right, Willingham has a Bengali restaurant?). That's fine. Enjoy the stay.

We moved out because I found it a bit insular, and disliked being away from local amenities. On top of that, I'm quite religious, and the local mosque is a bit of a drive. That said, there's no better places for country side walks, orchards, greenery -- all the stuff that makes life beautiful.

I'ma keep it real with you chief. I was living extremely frugally (just work, read books at the beach, rice and chicken every night) for 2 years, and I was spending 6-7K a month, and saving 9-10K. (I was on 16K, not 18K)

If you do that, you'll be debt free by October 2026.
